Today my mom was going on about Jewish Mothers and how they care and cook and clean and all that sortsa stuff. Quite random but then she said I should do some research. Anyone got any experience with Jewish Mother's?

I guess we're kinda jewish descended although I don't practice the Jewish faith.

Furthermore she said that Jews are handsome, smart and make money :p

Glad we're not stereotyping or anything...
... how they care and cook and clean and all that sortsa stuff.
That sounds like nearly every single mother I have ever met and/or known.

And no, not every mother I've ever met or known, is Jewish. :)

I know one Jewish mother personally. Does she cook, clean, and do other "stuff?" Yes. But those aren't traits that are inherent only to Jewish mothers. And not just to mothers. Fathers can and should do all of those as well.

My mother is Jewish and definitely doesn't fit the stereotype! She cooks...but not that much and hates cleaning

Jewish mothers are nothing compared to Jewish grandmothers. They feed you until you explode. And so do Italian grandmothers. I have both, I'm surprised I'm not a blimp.

My pops earned enough so my mum doesn't have to work, she cooks and cleans. She's Catholic but thinks all that God business is a load of bull so *shrugs*.

Jewish Mothers? Wtf?

My mom is Jewish, and a giant transforming space fighting robot. She doesn't cook or clean at all, but she does beat up the horrible plant people from beyond the moon.

My mom fixed the pool today :p and tehn went on about her Jewish Mother's stereotype! I sometimes think she may be a robot:eek:

Just found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_mother_stereotype

The stereotype generally involves a nagging, overprotective, and overbearing mother, one who is often getting involved in her children's lives long after they have grown up.

Thats my mom!

wow, this list is seriously convincing! It's all 100% true.*

*except I'm going to be an engineer not a lawyer/doctor!

so your mom is talking about herself to you?

she some how convinced me it was positive! And goes on to say how vain I am in having my mosaic background just cycle my photobooth pics! what an irony.

some more of my pain:
these mothers gave their children unshakable love but anchored it in "boundless suffering."

Here's a joke I found: what the difference is between a Jewish mother and a rottweiler? The rottweiler will eventually let go.

And I've received this before:

We must be home before dark because someone's sister's best friend's aunt's cousin was attacked twenty years before.

Not to create a stereotype, but the Jewish mother that I'm married to doesn't do a whole lot of cleaning...

She is the best cook and the best mom that I know. Not to mention smoking hot (no, I wont post a picture).

When google doesn't know the answer it asks a Jewish mother.

There is nothing hotter then a pretty woman cooking or cleaning. Schwing.

Again, I don't have a sterotypical Jewish grandmother either :D She is quite the opposite actually

You can't post that you have a smoking hot wife and not post pictures. I think it's against forum rules or something. If it's not, it should be :D

I thought the stereotype was that a Jewish Mother would (a) feed you constantly and (b) make you feel guilty about everything you do.

Example: She gives you two shirts for your birthday. You wear one the next day. She says "You didn't like the other shirt?"

I would call you lucky, but the food, my god its good. Ridiculously good. Mmm...

This brings up a good point. How come there are no restaurants that serve Jewish comfort food. Whenever my friends have tasted brisket, noodle kugel, hamentashen, or even just bagels and lox they love it. I know you can get ok food at a deli but how come there are no high end versions? If anyone opens a restaurant with this theme remember - you heard it here first.

Oh, and yg17, I'm not the type to post pictures or any other ID.
