"As Iovine says: "Algorithms don't understand the subtlety and the mixing of genres. So we hired the best people we know. Hired hundreds of them."

Sorry Mr.Iovine, But Spotify has hired hundreds "of them" long before Apple Music even was rumoured to start. I know ppl who work as "music programmers" in Spotify and they are music professionals.

the whole "we try to save the artists" BS angle needs to stop. be it AM or Tidal. its such a turn off for me as a customer. its like they blame us and not the system (labels) or simply put the change of the technological era

yes I take that chat with Tim as utter rubbish , "you were greedy and caught out Eddie Tim and the rest of you " I love Apple but over the last few years there has been big problems Maps being one all
sorts of software problems and a bunch of excuses Tim I'll give you One more Year if no improvement walk away you don't deserve to be CEO . After all the so called beta test and most of it's still crap plagued with problems someone needs to set the standard

The flipping arrogance is unbelievable. He's talking about elegance? Has he used or seen the convulted mess that is Apple Music, iTunes and apple match?

I like Apple music and the app, too.
Don't know what some people's problem is. All I read is "crappy, ugly, confusing", but never anything specific.
I'm able to find anything I like to hear quickly and the recommendations were getting better and better.
I have my Apple trash apps folder like many others, but Music is definitely none of them.

I almost fell of my chair with that lame story Eddie and Tim had concocted lol How disrespectful these guys are of its adoring public.Does he actually believe we would fall for that ? In the real world Eddie you were greedy , tried to exploit more money from hard workers in the music business by not paying them , yes Apple is a business just like musicians are self employed yet you don't want to pay them for three months ,I like Apple music I like most products which lets be honest it's grossly over priced , yet I still buy it with pride BUT I personally think since Tim took over the reigns there has been one cock up after another . The amount of beta tests that go on and there is major problems with software come on we're not all tech guys most switch on and attempt to just use the product without trying to solve why there music list has disappeared. Maps another disaster yes Tim a few I believe the bubble may be about to burst at Apple unless they pull there finger out I see rough times ahead . Apple is a company that's expected we expect magnificence every time obviously in the real world this is very very hard to maintain but there loosing it by making school boy errors, software should not be realised with basic problems then we wait weeks for it to be fixed .

Yes. But as for me, I like to own my music, and when I want to stream I just listen to my network provider's service, which is equivalent to Apple Music.
So, all those features are sort of useless for me - and others - and as such a toggle would be a much welcomed addition.

I don't think it's a good idea for Jimmy to be the face of Apple Music. But if he's going to be perhaps he needs to get some coaching before he speaks to the media or goes on stage.

Totally agree. He's embarrassing and always off-message from what Apple wants to get out there. That bit in this interview about "maybe there's some things she doesn't understand" comes off so condescending and mansplaining. The guy needs to keep his piehole shut.

Quote about the Taylor Swift issue: “Eddy [Cue, Apple senior VP] woke up on Sunday morning,” says Iovine. “He called me and said, ‘This is a drag’. I was like, ‘Yeah, maybe there’s some stuff she doesn’t understand’.

Wow. The arrogance from Iovine is beyond belief.

The music bug thread is full of specific examples. Here is one I had. Apple Music that I "saved" weren't showing up on one of my devices. Had no idea why. Tried turning Icloud off and on etc. Turns out there is another setting, buried under a menu within Apple Music (not under settings) to only show music physically on the device. Inexplicably, mine was toggled to yes. I never touched that switch, never even knew about it, and it was only toggled that way on one of my devices.

So yes, confusing. Specific enough?

I like Apple music and the app, too.

What a complete joke. Apple caved because it is dependent on its brand image more than most companies for selling products. Coming out against the artists would have made Apple look like Microsoft. They realized throwing a bone to artists was less important than taking the hit from opposing them. Iovine's story is just a load of crap.

If you don't live in the United States, an Apple Music membership is required to listen to Apple Music Radio. This applies to almost every country. Some don't even have the option to listen to Beats 1, which is only for rap lovers anyway.

???

Granted I've only spent about 30 minutes total listening to Beats 1, but there was no rap at all, so...

Are you surprised about what I said? You can check it here. As you can see, in almost every case you'll see "Apple Music Radio" with number "1" next to it which means: "In this country, an Apple Music membership is required to listen to Apple Music Radio."

As for the Beats 1 - I just hit play, and you know what was playing?? CERTIFIED GANGSTA feat. Cam'ron. And guess who is he?? - An American rapper!

So maybe you were lucky to listen to some pop, which I also dislike. I'd like to be able to listen to classical, rock, metal, jazz and alternative - like I was able to before in the old radio within iTunes, and I cannot since I don't live in the USA.

On one hand, I'm pretty sure Beats Two, Three etc. with various kinds of music are going to happen sometime soon.

On the other, I have no clue why Apple is doing this at all.

So, you turned it on, heard a rap song, and decided that represented 100% of the songs played? Wow. Dunno where you went to school, but they *might* want to beef up their statistics lessons.

Ping was a weak-point too...

Hasn't Apple learned from their mistakes.... I guess not..

Even though u have a social-like space all integrated, so u never have to leave iTunes, this may be a small part.... Apple, or users already using iTunes will be the only ones who use Connect...

I think that's the failure point, where so many websites out there do the same 'social' point, Twitter and Facebook are already strong..

Connect is Apple's social catching up last.

Was that the only think you read in my post? It wasn't just one song and many people complain about it's rap/hip-hop style. If it's not rap, than it's pop - I don't like it either. But if you listened to it for half an hour without hearing a rap song and decided that the station isn't rap-oriented, then I dunno where you went to school.

Read the rest of the post. I'm not here to argue. I just wanted to express my opinion on Apple Radio and how disappointed I am not being able to listen to anything else apart from Beats 1.

End of story.

It's more like there's some stuff Iovine doesn't understand.
I think she had a firm grasp that artists were not being paid during the trial period. Mr. Iovine once again doesn't understand artist's concerns.
What stuff does Taylor Swift not understand? How to blink?
Yeah, how condescending! "Maybe there's some things she doesn't understand"? Sheesh.
Wow. The arrogance from Iovine is beyond belief.

Seems to me that he was addressing her potentially not understanding how the longer gameplan makes forgoing initial payment worthwhile. Doesn't negate that he wasn't understanding how that single-mindedness neglected those it hurt. I just think that's what he was addressing by that statement. In my experience it is pretty common that when someone has a vision, they think that others do not agree because they cannot see / understand the vision. Perceivably condescending, but visionaries tend to be misunderstood (or tend to misconvey).
