Hi guys

I have a job interview on Tuesday at Harvey Norman (A computer place I have dreamed of working since I was a kid) and I really really really want to get this job. Can anyone give me some tips of what to say in the interview? Also I'm not sure what to wear

This may be a stupid suggestion, but think about why you want to work there, and then tell it to yourself in the mirror. If you can't convince yourself, you probably can't convince someone else.

On the other hand if you can convince yourself, it is a good start! Just curious why do you like Harvey Norman?

To tell you the truth I'd be overjoyed to work in ANY computer shop but I don't mind Harvey Norman when I was a PC user I used to always buy my computers there.

Yes after awhile I did realise they were mega expensive and had my last PC custom built but hey I love computers they are my life :D If this doesnt work out (But I hope it does) I'm applying for Nextbyte which is an Apple shop

Personally, I'd apply at Nextbyte first. :p

But for the interview, just make sure you know what the store offers and show that you have a real interest in computers/technology. Also, seeing as the job will involve customer service, they could ask, for example, how you might deal with an angry customer. Just have a few answers for questions like that prepared.

Wear something similar to what they wear in store (I haven't been to Harvey Norman's for so long I don't even know what they wear), but maybe a bit more formal.

Good luck with it! :)

Edit: I forgot to mention smile a lot and be really enthusiastic, but not in a fake way.

Went out and bought an outfit today

I worked at a circuit city store once before (very briefly!)... here are snippets of what I was asked/told to do during the very informal/spontaneous interview that I had (though it was a brutal 1 hour long!)

-What gadgets do you own?
-Describe how you would make a sale.
-How have you made sales in the past?
-How would you approach a customer entering the store?
-Why are you quitting your current job?

Most of the questions pertained to sales, though. Once I started, I realized that I knew a lot more than a lot of my coworkers re: electronics (which isn't even all that much!)

I think the best advice I can give, though, is just to sell yourself really well, and make a good closing statement as to why you should be hired (the person hiring had me make one up on the spot.)

I have never been to Harvey Norman, but I am assuming that it is the same as any other electronics store, in that they are most concerned with the bottom line. Therefore, you must show that you are sales savvy as well as knowing something about the products that they are selling.

I love the outfit!

Very pretty!

Makes you look extremely professional. I adore the top!

Just when you go in there, relax, and don't act like it is a big deal.

Yes, and try your hair down?

Aww thank you :) I really appreciate it. Didn't try the hair down I live my life with my hair up. Will have to try some makeup I think I'm too white :D

Make sure you know some not-so-obvious things about the company. I went to a Best Buy job fair yesterday where they pretty much interview you on the spot, and I couldn't tell them anything about Best Buy other than the various electronics they sell . They also asked me 5 things I would do with a (1) brick . So be prepared to answer off-the-wall questions (if they should ask them).
