Well, I'd rather watch porn than "Desperate Houswives".

As a piece of hardware the new ipod is exciting, but the programs I watch are pretty unlikely to make it on the iPod if licensing is done on a show-by-show basis. They'll be a lot of mainstream TV available, but I won't be able to watch Myth Busters, the History Channel or Top Gear.

Yo tambien. Broadcast TV puts me to sleep. Podcasts and TV shows are really only useful to me at the computer, or while I'm in transit. With that said, once the A&E, TLC, Comedy Central, FX, and HBO start putting stuff on here, I could maybe change my habits. I'd rather see Apple kick out a Rip. Mix. Sync. campaign. Rip my Airline to iTunes, organize the episodes, and sync to iPod. That would be nice...(crosses fingers)

We all make mistakes, big deal.

You people treat Steve Jobs like a God or something. ;) :p :D
right - he just stands up there and does it - I think he's a good speaker. He gets the message across, and I think his audience rise above any tiny errors in the delivery.

Was discussing that exact point with someone this afternoon.
He was asking if the iPod was worth it. Sure, if you haven't already got one. However the quality of the video to be dl'ed via iTunes bothers me, fine if you wish to view it exclusively on the iPod and damage your eyesight in the process. Played on a TV? Via AV cables? Mmmmmm don't think so Steveo. This to me would have been the major selling point- handy pocket video library to take anywhere to be played on any monitor/tv, in DVD quality resolution.

Ten to a penny though, within weeks of the iPod release there'll be some clever coder release a small app which allows you to transfer either dvd or ripped dvds to it. Or am I being naive?

Personally, I think this is awesome. But then I'm thinking about a particular (though very large) category of people. College Kids.
That's right, the group that hordes digital technology, knows how to use it, and generally live by it. Ok, so there ARE those of us that don't know how to use a computer ;)
However, My entire music collection and Movie collection is entirely digital (and mostly legal), because I play everything off my computer. If someone wants to watch one of my movies, or I want to take my movies with me, it involves taking my Powerbook. Now if I could take a 30/60gb iPod, that would be far easier.
Sure, I'm a nerd and not quite the norm, but I'd say 10-20% of my campus has at least a couple digital films. And 30-50% of the campus has video clips that they enjoy sharing, and are great past times when one is bored.

Is it a huge selling point? It shouldn't be, it plays music. But is this feature useless for the majority of iPod users? Hardly.

I think its cool new features but after owning a PSP, that does nothing to even slightly touch my interest or make me want to get a Video iPod now. Its superb for those who dont have one but hardly make me wanna put away my iPod Mini or PSP for that.

difference?
ps. desperate house wives kicks ass and I dont mind admitting it how many shows have you seen where a cop is ready to pull a gun on a mom who's yelling at him.

Does anyone know where i can get a link to watch the event from yesterday besides at the apple website. I tried that link and it will not open in quicktime. I am not sure why it won't open but i would really like to watch it and i can't get it to work. Any suggestions please?

Go to the Apple menu in the top left. Click "Software Update..." and make sure you have the latest quicktime software. Try that. :)

I'm 94% satisfied by LOST, and my last 6% will be filled once Myth Busters is online.

ahh, yes, mythbusters. I'm personally hoping Food Network gets into the act...good eats would be great for the morning commute.

Also, somewhere he says, lets see it on the new iMac, when he meant iPod and went to the iPod. I think it was when he was demoing the TV by playing DH.

It's True; depending on the model. :)
Link to Apple

When "watching" the MR "broadcast" of the event, I saw thiner and thought what the F***! But in the light of day, what difference does it really make. I was thinking a new form factor. I am happy with the overall size of my iMac 20" that I bought back in July.

how much did you spend on your PSP flash memory upgrade? if i'm right, a fortune. Don't get me wrong, i love my PSP, but i find it sits on my desk unless i'm playing games. The new iPod is considerably a better value; for video and music.

come on. it's not a big of a deal. the biggest mistake I have seen from steve job's keynotes is the iphoto bug while showing tiger features, and other small verbal errors, but it's pretty good compared to the HUGE mistakes that microsoft made. proff? who knows about the 1998 live blue screen of death? how about three obvious problems from another of their live presentations :http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2005/01/05/financial0019EST0249.DTL

i remember the movie "pirates of silicone valley" when bill was late for the plane,
he said that in his breifcase that there is important software that will protect all
computers and keep places like this airport running, so he has to get on the
plane or the airline will be held responsible for computer and financial damage caused from not letting bill on the plane?

apple's mistakes aren't that big at all
