All,

Good Evening.

Just ordered the new iPad from John Lewis.com.. 00:26 UK time.
9.95 to get delivered on Sat.. Or free to pick up from store... In work all day tomorrow so Saturday will do..

Be quick!

Finn.

Ordered as well.. no confirmation email as of yet but you can see the order in 'My John Lewis'

Excited!! :D

No Confirmation email as yet! :-( took about 4 attempts to get my card though.... hope thats not 4 iPads!!!!!

----------

Went wifi only.. we're not getting LTE/4G this year and IF Everything Everywhere do manage to roll it out, it will only be them until at least next year when everyone else goes LTE/4G.. I'll happily tether to iPhone or get a 3 mifi dongle if that desperate!

No confirmation email yet..

They haven't taken or withheld the money in my account either. I might to local John Lewis tom to see if they have in stock and just get one there.

not checked my bank. John Lewis online account says order processing.. Should see some movement tomorrow.. I'm guessing going in anywhere over the weekend would be uneventful!!!

just ordered a white 64gb 4g one thanks op for the heads up... an extra years warranty may come handy :)

Just ordered 32GB + 4G for store pick-up Saturday after 2pm. :)

This saves me trying to hunt everywhere for one tomorrow or waiting 2-3 weeks...

I was actually in John Lewis earlier looking at iPad cases/covers, and the sales assistant mentioned their 2 year warranty and also said that rumour had it that it would go on sale at midnight online - must admit I didn't quite believe him but seems he was right! No student discount at John Lewis (er - about £17 I think) but the extra year's warranty is almost definitely worth at least that...

But like everyone else - no confirmation email yet and still says "order processing"...

Edit: really standard EU law is 2 years? How does that work in practice given that everywhere I go the normal advertised warranty is 1 year - are all manufacturers flouting the law then and can you compel them to fix things after 1 year?

Just ordered mine! Thanks for the heads up guys.

For people wondering about confirmation emails how did you order?

I ordered through paypal for pick up in-store on saturday so I got a email from paypal but I believe you won't get a email from JL if you are picking up, I think they text you instead when its ready in-store.

Not a 100% sure though :)

Ordered other stuff from John Lewis to collect in store and always received a email or text ;)

Ordered with a debit card for in store pick up Saturday, and no confirmation email (just find this so strange as am used to getting confirmation emails left right and centre whenever I order anything online - though this is my first onlineorder with John Lewis).

Anyone know what John Lewis' return policy is like on the iPad? Their website says that refunds are 7 days under the UK distance selling regulations, does this have to be brand new (unopened) or can I open it and play around with it first - I'm still sort of on the fence about the model I ordered and was hoping to try it out before deciding if I needed more memory! (Apple Store said 14 days and it can be opened provided it's in good condition, while John Lewis in store seems to be indefinite?!)

ordered just after midnight black 64GB wifi model

good deal 2 year warranty and got the 12% staff discount so works out at £491 pick it up after 2pm Saturday

no email either

Got an email at 5am this morning with confirmation.

Just called up their customer services to ask about returns policy, the person on the line said he couldn't find anything to suggest that it's different from John Lewis' standard (28? or infinite?) return policy despite the note about the 7 days under distance selling regulations. Will probably confirm again when I pick up tomorrow - as am really on the fence at the minute about whether I want 16/32/64GB (so ordered 32GB!) and one of the reasons why I was looking at joining the Apple Store scrum was because of the Apple store's 14 day return policy...

And yes - I am amazed at how much stock they have!!! It's good. :)

(The John Lewis store near me also now has iPad 3 - or should I say 3rd gen - cases, so picked up an iPad 3 back cover and an iPad 2 screen protector, will probably pick up a smart cover as well)

Yep, a lot of misinformed blabbermouths around.

Google EU directive 1999/44/EC which states that "A two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. In some countries, this may be more, and some manufacturers also choose to offer a longer warranty period."

The SOGA renders that EU directive irrelevant in the UK. In England and Wales it's technically 6 years, dependant on price and expected durability. The difference is that after 6 months it's your job to prove a manufacturing fault caused whichever issue you're having with your goods.

Up here it's five years.

John Lewis still have stock, available for collection tomorrow morning.

32GB WiFi+4G in stock with a free 3 SIM card with 1GB of data...plus a 2 year guarantee...with my partner discount....

Tempting...tempting...
