I just installed a new SSD drive in my MacBook. As it was installing the OS, I noticed it was already online! How could it have joined my wireless network without my even entering the password? I was installing from a bootable disc for the record.

Main reason I care is because I want this to be a fresh install. Hoping some old crud didn't come along for the ride somehow!

The settings for your wireless network are actually saved in PRAM and not on your hard drive, which is why your Mac remembered your network even though you did a drive swap.

Aha! Thank you. Will do a pram reset for maximum cleanliness 😉
Thanks!
