Hi guys- not sure where to post this but our company has a joint venture account and we're adding some new employees and looking to add some new MacBook's to our account.

Is it correct that we can only add machines purchased directly from Apple.com to our joint venture account? Pricing from MacMall and Bestbuy is a few hundred dollars less right now, but it seems like Apple has us handcuffed here.

Anyone ever hear of this?

Thanks

More than likely you ARE locked into purchasing through Apple directly however you might call your Apple sales rep or someone on the business team at your nearest Apple store and run the question by them. You might even phrase it more along the lines of "We have 3 Macs that we bought through an Apple authorized reseller that we would like to add to our Joint Venture coverage, is this possible?" to prevent a chance of them gaining a sale by providing mis-information.

edit:
Actually, thinking back, I was with Apple when Pro Care ended and Joint Venture was born a few months later. It's been a while but back then we pushed it as a service that could be sold to anyone, similar to how One to One could be sold to someone who had bought a Mac a 8 months earlier at Macs n More down the road. Obviously One to One has changed in that it has to be bought with a Mac (thanks to people buying it to help with iPhones / iPods) so Joint Venture may have followed suit.

Thanks for the response. Waiting to hear back from our Apple rep to see how much of a discount they can provide to us to bring us closer to their reseller prices. We'll see what happens.

Thanks again.
