It's all very well making Ive out to be some sort of revolutionary genius, but let's be honest here, he's designed a handful of pretty products that, IMO, have since evolved negatively (I wince every time I see a gorgeous iPhone 3 and then remiss at what they did with the 4 and 5!)
You're forgetting Ive's premiere product design that set all things in motion.... the iPod.

Just because you don't get it...

Sorry, but even being a fellow Brit, I just don't get it!

There hasn't been a new design within the apple stable for a number of years and opportunities to create something beautiful...

I may be missing something, but...
- many laptops seem to look like MacBook Pros
- many tablets seem to look like iPads
- many smartphones seem to look like iPhones
- no other all-in-one comes close to the iMac's design

Sorry, but J. Ive is [one of] the best, whether you "get it" or not. (IMHO)

Jony Ive should be the CEO of Apple because he's untouchable by any shareholders.

You could tell them to ****, they would have no choice as if they fired him, Apple is dead.

Someone said John Sculley worst Apple CEO?

Pretty sure Tim Cook will drive Apple into the ground unless their board wakes up and turfs him. All of Apple's current troubles can be attributed directly to him, he was the guy that saw Apple Maps app and decided, "yeah, its good enough to release" and then went on stage at a keynote and had the audacity to proclaim it was the most advanced maps app ever made.

When a CEO loses $300 in stock price in a little over a year, that IS the WORST CEO IN HISTORY.

Any teachers, nurses, librarians on this list? Bet they are way more influential than some iphone designer. What has he influenced? Maybe he influences samsung to make copycat phones, but that's not real creation. I think influential people influence people to CREATE for the common good.

Man of the year 1939

When I saw this I became curious, so I looked him up on Wikipedia- and while I was reading about him I came across this:

"During Amelio's tenure Apple's stock continued to slump and hit a 12-year low in Q2 1997 that was at least partially caused by a single sale of 1.5 million shares of Apple stock on June 26 by an anonymous party who was later confirmed to be Steve Jobs."

every who read steve's biography knows. read it and you'll know the whole story.

Just wondering if the various "awards" that Apple execs are getting, along with pumped up profits are preventing them from noticing the black cloud that's headed Apple's way.

I have never read as many negative articles about Apple in all the years I've been such a very loyal customer. I've spent incredible sums of money as many of you have, all to sadly watch this dog and pony show on the decline.

Say what you wish about the stock market, or the current price of Apple stock, but the bottom line is when I step back and look at the big picture, I'm concerned.

I am _NOT_ in any way suggesting gloom and doom, but I am finding Apple floundering more than ever.

Staff shakeups. Not much truly new in the way of products either in the short or long term... it's just looking pretty dull....

Here's an article I came across if you care to see another example of what's being said out in public:

But wasn't Cook CEO when the stock ran up to $700?

But back in January of this year, Apple posted their greatest quarter. EVER!!
So the stock slumps yet the money is coming in by the boat loads. Tell me genius, how is that possible.
And the next time you pass by an Apple store, see if you can walk through without bumping into someone.
Troll somewhere else.

Ive is very influential, his boring ip5 design influenced me to buy a galaxy s3.

This would be funny if it weren't so bizarre. Look at the flagship phones: iPhone, Lumia, HTC One, Nexus 4, and Galaxy S 3/4. One if these is definitely a boring and generic looking plastic phone and it sure ain't the iPhone.

ZZZzzzzzzzzz. Wake me when something more interesting happens. Like watching paint dry. I remember when Time was a good magazine.
