They were responding to people's comments. I'm not just going to ignore all of them. So 9 responses and 1 original post.

But I'll stop. I just had my own opinion and people went all apple nuts.

That's an odd way to look at it. Your comment was complete fanboy tripe. It wasn't any better or more insightful than all of the "steve would never allow this" crap.

Ive got my trust in him.

I'm sure they'll continue to wow us regardless of how many complaints and threads Apple sites continue to have. Can't wait for iOS 8/iPhone 6!

I can wait, at least for the IOS8 part. I would have like to read if Jonny considers IOS7.0 a failure, or at least a significant misstep.

Apple uses it's power to arrange various interviews and exposure in the mainstream press to influence people. To tell stories that program peoples minds and expectations, which in turn translates into sales. It's particularly beneficial when coming off a year like 2013 which featured profit taking instead of innovation. A very clever strategy indeed.

So sad that you troll Apple sites.

It's sad you think wanting more features out of a device is trolling. Nothing wrong with wanting a device to improve. That's what companies should do. Apple, Google, MS, all of them. I like my Mac, but I'm not going to call someone out just because they have wishes for ways to make it better. If I think a company doesn't do their best, I share my opinion about that, and someone calls me a troll or claims I'm trolling, well that's just sad and pathetic.

Oh, you mean like the Galaxy S4? You mean that gimmick feature that you NEVER EVER see ANYONE using? Is that what you're referring to? That's not innovation, that's a gimmick. Apple doesn't do gimmicks. "TouchWiz and S Pen" anyone? Why would you need air gestures on a device that you're holding anyway? Just for the sake of stupidity?

They're are plenty of times when I wish I would have air AirTouch. Like when my hands are dirty when I'm eating. Sorry, but it's not just a gimmick. It can be a useful feature. Sure not all the time, but it can come in handy.

Their idea of innovation is making the screen idiotically larger and larger and copying everything Apple does.

And yet Apple has stayed mostly the same for the past seven years in regards to screen size. No a larger screen isn't innovation anymore, but they at least they are changing things and moving forward and aren't stuck at a tiny screen size like the iPhone has. After holding a phone with a 4.7" screen, the iPhone's screen looks like postage stamp (well a big postage stamp). If you want that, great. But a phone isn't just a phone anymore, you got the web, apps, and more. Larger screens, to a point, make that experience more pleasant IMO.

Oh if you're going to call out Samsung for their idea of innovation being increasing screen size, well Apple just made the iPhone 5 longer and changed the colors...now THAT'S innovative! Yes I realize there's additional features, but that's what they market. All of the sudden the new longer screen was the "perfect size." If they make a larger screen again, then that'll be the perfect size. Marketing.

Samsung copies Apple? Well Apple copied Android with iOS 7.

Apple Watch

From an Apple Watch-related topic:

… I expected Dieter Rams level design and minimalism.

Thanks to Yr Blues. The name Dieter Rams was unfamiliar to me, I was very interested in what I found this evening. Some readers will already be familiar with most of this, here goes …

"For the most part, this watch is a nice piece, with the core aspects of the original being well-represented. But when compared to the original, its inferiorities come out. Little things, like the narrower, non-flush band, or the seemingly-elongated face, or the subtle curves on the side of the face, all add up to a design that is less striking than square, angular design Rams originally dreamed up. …"

Memorable objects

I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, and have always had a passion for old/stylish televisions, so I find these beautiful:

I have no recollection of ever seeing a photograph of either of those. I find that odd.

Here in the UK, Braun is a well-known brand, but after browsing all the pages linked above I'm almost certain that I have no recollection of ever seeing any of those Braun objects at home, or at the home of a friend.

I recall just one Braun device: probably the Flex Control 4515 Universal from around 1990 –
– designed by Roland Ullmann.

Apple OS X

Before I knew anything about Dieter Rams, I read an invitation to assess pre-release Yosemite (OS X 10.10) in relation to his ten principles of good design. My response …
