Good time to own Apple.

We get a preview of Apple's earning tomorrow when Intel reports their earnings. If PC sales are strong, then Apple sales should be as well. Me, I personally use the Apple store barometer. I've visited by local Apple store about 10 times in the last 2 months and it's been packed each time. Lots of interest in Apple products and not just the iPhone. There is definitely a halo effect with the iPhone and the other products like MacBooks and iPods. This is traditionally a weak quarter for Apple, so if the can blow away earnings here, imagine what back to school and Christmas will be like. Especially when the new widescreen iPod (that we all know is coming) comes out for Christmas.

If this isn't a company that's firing on all cylinders, then I don't know what one looks like. It really looks like all the hard work that Apple employees have been doing for the last few years is beginning to pay off in a big way. Congrats guys and gals, you deserve it!!! :) :) :)

I'm just wondering if the false rumor about the iphone nano had any effects on apple's stock price. Maybe JP Morgan planned to sell some and tried to "adjust" a bit.

This would be a major violation of regulations. Investment banks have what is termed a "Chinese Wall" which separates the research portion of the firm from any other part involved in financing or trading. In other words, no one but the researchers know what is going to be reported prior to the report coming out. And, just in case some information may have leaked, investment banks have restricted trading lists which force employees to wait a certain period of time before trading on stocks that have just had research published about them by the company. In other words, the firm can't double dip. They have to be fair and blind to what their analysts publish.

Apples on a roll. Earnings report will give us the iphone sales numbers
which imo will surprise the entire street. Then comparisons to ipod
launch will commence.

Look for $150+ pps after earnings.

Is that guaranteed? Are you prepared to cover the spread if it doesn't happen?

We may or may not see any iPhone sales numbers with this earnings report. Probably not actually, as the iPhone was on sale for only one day during the quarter. And if they do release any numbers, it will only be units sold.

To Nagromme ...

I hope it never ends - it's time to put a stop to these analysts that put false hopes on rumor mill sites like Think Secret ... it almost makes you wonder sometimes if Think Secret doesn't get some payola.

Basicly all these false rumors make the Keynotes depressing, to many people promising the ultimate in whatever so when it is released it will needless disapoint.

So people here are in a tizzy about analysts making stuff up about Apple, on a website called... wait for it... MacRumors?

Pot. Kettle. Black.

guys the iPhone sales count for 2 days (the last 48 hours of June, both Friday sales and Saturday sales) in this past quarters earnings not 1 day as some have mentioned. Anywhere between 250,000 and 1,000,000 iPhones may have been sold in that time. Personally I am leaning toward the higher end of around 750,000 the first 2 days.

and I hope that guy did get his butt fired......either he is stupid enough to think that just because he saw 1 patent that apple is planning production based on that patent or he made the claim to attempt to gain personally. Either way it's a nobrainer to toss his a$$ to the curb.

It's actually even less of an impact than 2 days. Because of the Airport 11n fiasco, Apple has changed the way they report earnings from some devices. Apple has stated that they will count the earnings from iPhones over a 24 month period, instead of the day of sale.

So the earnings from the last 2 days of the quarter will actually be multiplied by 1/365th.

Interesting -- I hadn't heard this. Got a link, but any chance? It makes sense I suppose since Apple is assumed to be sharing service revenue with AT&T.

He was NOT fired

I know for a FACT he was NOT fired. This is just a BS story to cause a stir.

Basically, it allows Apple to provide free upgrades to the iPhone without worrying about how to declare the profits and such. Back when they "activated" the 11n on the MBP, they got into such a mess when they had to charge $2 for just to activate some software.

This link doesn't state 2 years, but I've seen it in other articles.
