So a few years back when I moved the switch from Windows to Mac I simply copied all my photo's to my iMac. I started out using Picasa but have now started using iPhoto.

Well now space is getting to be at a premium on the iMac. And I now have the iphoto data file and all my JPG's that I've imported.

I am able to safely move those old JPG's off my iMac's hard drive without compromising the integrity of my iPhoto data?

Thanks
David

Yes, iPhoto keeps a copy of all of your images. If you ever need to get to the raw files, you can browse into the library and get them, or just drag them out of iPhoto.

Only if you had "Copy Items to iPhoto Library" in iPhoto Preferences ticked when you imported them.

Hmmm. Thanks for the replies. How would one ascertain if I had selected that or not? Can I go by the file size of my iPhoto file and or modified dates of my pics maybe?

Thanks
