Hey guys, this is my first post. So what I have are scans of comics in jpg format. I can compress them and then rename the .zip to .cbz, the problem is that takes a while to do each comic. I was wondering if there is a conversion app that i could just drag the folder into and have it convert it for me. Has anyone here ever seen anything or know of anything like that?

jwyatt521,

This sounds like the kind of task that would be perfect for either Automator or AppleScript.

Absolutely. There are tools or creating zips, renaming files and finding the contents of folders right there in Automator.

Personally, I'd probably make a droplet or service in Automator that'd act as the front end to a short shell script, probably using 'ditto'. I'm funny like that though...

Just to follow up, here's an article where I talk about using Automator to convert HTML to PDF.

I know that's not strictly what you asked about, but the approach is very similar to convert JPG to Zip (or CPZ). You'd just need to use a common using ditto rather than cups filter in your shell script.

Hope that sets you off in the right direction.
