There are so many Chromium browsers these days that do everything Chrome does.
Not sure why anyone uses Chrome.

Are chrome users Google customers? Chrome is a free, open source, opt-in web browser... It’s given to people for free, no one forces you to use it, google doesn’t upsell you anything related to chrome, how can you label a chrome user a “deceived customer”?The plaintiffs claim that Google is therefore deceiving customers into believing....

You don't need an expanded vocabulary to read and understand the information on the incognito mode splash page. It details clearly what "Incognito Mode" entails. Literally no excuse to claim "unaware of tracking" in incognito mode.
But they’re not selling other companies your raw data. No company can just purchase and download a package of user data from google to be used however they want. That’s not how it works.Sort of a double-edged sword here. If someone uses a Google product, then Google has the right to collect information for their own purposes (such as making their product better, targeting certain groups of customers in order to sell their products, etc.). What I think is that they don't have the right to then sell that information to other companies, because that information belongs to me. In using their products, I acknowledge that they can use that information for their own purposes

Google lets advertisers choose where to display their ads based on demographics, browsing history, etc. Google is using the data they get from users to improve they delivery of ads in its ad platform. That’s it.
Hope Google get shut down cos of this.
calling it “incognito mode” doesn’t help spread the wordThere's some serious growing up which needs to be done by anyone with this mindset.
The plaintiffs who brought this lawsuit also need to learn how things work. Incognito means your browser history won't be stored locally. They never once said they wouldn't track you. This should be common knowledge.
I mean, I guess Edge is not corporate enough for you.because maybe corporations don’t want to put their faith in some open source soon to be abandon ware that some 14 year old wrote. There’s a difference between Google support and a bunch of fellas on github
Maybe there’s a better term for it but that by itself isn’t going to go far in court when the page presented to the user tells them about how it works. If “but I didn’t read the terms of service” doesn’t fly in court, this won’t either.calling it “incognito mode” doesn’t help spread the word
Honestly it runs on Chromium and is supposed to be pretty good. If my company decides to switch from Chrome to Edge I wouldn’t cry. My work laptop would enjoy having some RAM free that’s for sureI mean, I guess Edge is not corporate enough for you.

No they basically tried to argue that it’s not worth showing up in court for and got denied a request to “cancel” it. All this is is an agreement for both sides to present their case in court. Hardly “gone far.”It’s already gone far in court. Google already made that argument and the court rejected it.
Most chromium browsers out there are statistically not Edge. My comment applies, and if you read a bit later on you’d see that I commented about embracing Edge and how my work environment would benefit from it. Thanks!Microsoft edge is acceptable to every IT department I’ve ever heard of.
Yep, and Stallman is saying my Mac is bad for me too!Im a heavy google services user. I don’t feel it’s bad for me. Been using Google services since the beginning and shockingly I’m still alive and well. And with kids.
Yes, and instead of "not completely invisible," I would say, totally visible. People should think of it as, you bought a computer, used it at home with your own IP and everything, then threw it away after browsing the web for a bit.As much as I hate tracking, this lawsuit is stupid. Google has done enough to make people aware that they are not completely invisible from the world in incognito. Do people expect Google to put a banner in Chrome that says, "Hey remember we are still tracking you in the incognito mode, click here to learn more"?
They didn't do anything this time. This is how Private Mode in Safari and Firefox work too.Google got caught doing this ..again? Google would be nothing, if there weren't so many people willing to support the surveillance state.
Nobody likes google. Even if google is in the right here, I hope the judge still smacks them down. They deserve itYou are delusional if you think that will happen
No, that's not what the article says. The lawsuit is over "incognito mode" not preventing ads and analytics, including Google's own, from attempting to track users. Google discloses this very plainly. It's not about Chrome itself tracking you. You’re missing the issue. It isn’t the sites that you visit; it’s that Google is tracking you when you visit those sites via Chrome even though you are in incognito mode!
Just wondering - is this a joke or are you being seriousNobody likes google. Even if google is in the right here, I hope the judge still smacks them down. They deserve it
I don't like them either, but there has to be due process. Imagine this goes through, and it's used as precedent in other dumb cases, including ones against your favorite companies.Nobody likes google. Even if google is in the right here, I hope the judge still smacks them down. They deserve it
Chrome is unique as it does all the web caching in the Googles cloud. Any company with their own intranet with internal web pages would ban Chrome being on any company computer as a security violation as allowing Google access to the users browsing history if they wanted to access it.It just means it doesn’t show up in browsing history. But it doesn’t mean that the internet service provider or the browser OEM can’t see what you’re doing.
