I've only tried clubs a couple of times. I found them amazingly hard: I keep getting the "spin" wrong...

Do you have trouble flipping one from your right hand to your left and then flipping it back again? If so, then just practice that until you can do it comfortably. Once you can do that comfortably, add another club.

Hold one in each hand and toss the right, and before catching it toss the left. Catch with your left hand and then with your right hand. It might be hard to get equal strength with both of your hands. Lots of people have trouble with clubs because one hand is weak - maybe not physically, but coordinationally (yeah, I know that's not a word :p).

Once you can toss 2 clubs comfortably and can repeat the motion quickly and confidently, try adding the third club. Relax and just imagine that you're just tossing 2 clubs. In fact, before tackling 3 clubs, try doing 2 clubs, but holding the third club in your main hand and not tossing the third club at all. Just get used to the feeling of having it there.

THEN go for 3 clubs. But keep imagining it's just 2, because, essentially, it is. You only have 2 clubs in your hand at any one time :).

Hope that helps,

The major problem is that I don't have any clubs to practice with! I started in the same way as I started with balls: learning to accurately throw left to right and right to left, ensuring that the clubs land in the correct place each time. The problem: the clubs land in different places each time and not at a constant orientation. It's just a matter of practice!

The newest technique I've been trying is juggling 3 items with one thrown from behind my back. I try to get in a rhythm, at least briefly, but I'm not good at it yet. Gotta practice for more consistent aim.

I didn't bring my torches or my balls to new york :(.

This thread is making me regret that so much.

I need to go find me something to juggle :).

If you like juggling, try learning sign language :)

I used to juggle a lot, but could never do 4 balls. Then I went away and spent 4 years learning sign language, till I was nearly fluent (I have a deaf partner now).

About a week ago, I tried juggling for the first time for several years. Hey, I could almost do 4 balls! I still couldn't do 4 continously, but I was so much nearer than I'd ever got before, back when I'd been practicing every day.

Think it's something to do with much better motor control and co-ordination in both hands from all that signing :)

That's also something I'd really, really love to do! I'm trying to make my foreign language credit at uni be american sign language, because I want to learn that a lot more than Spanish or the like.

I can throw the one ball in a parabolic arc across me, but when I tried two they just flew everywhere. :(
I try again tomorrow. :)

Good dedication and attitude KT :). You'll be juggling quicker than you'd think.

No thank you! :) Settling down appeals to me, but no kids.

I'm not surprised. It's so funny how seemingly unrelated things are related. I was a decent basketball player during high school and played often, but never hard enough or serious enough to improve. I started taking tai chi and my basketball got a lot better. I had much faster reflexes. I had already been taking kung fu, too, so it was specifically tai chi that increased my reflexes.

I've always had pretty good hand eye coordination. 4 balls wasn't too hard for me, but I've never been able to get 5. I don't have good enough control to do 5. I'd rather learn some 4 ball tricks. I'd love to learn a 4 ball mills mess :D.

I tried to learn to juggle and it was so frustrating. But I can walk with crutches with out my legs toutching the ground.
