The Dashboard icon can be removed from the Dock by clicking and holding on it, then choosing Remove from Dock from the menu that appears. This was one of the first things I did when I installed Tiger.

I removed that very shortly after upgrading to Tiger...

I use mouse movement to the top-left corner to enable Dashboard, or (on very rare occasions) F8, but I soon realized that I would never use the dock icon, so I dragged it off, for good.

Yeah me too.

I use f12 and the top left corner.
The corner gets the most use though.

Mine I removed the Dashboard icon in the dock shortly after installing Tiger as well. I have a button on my MX1000 configured to activate it.

I honestly don't know where i got these from. I do agree that the style is pretty wicked and i would be pleased if it came from a series.

In the Finder, open the View menu and select Show View Options. There, you'll see an option to have the label on the botom or on the right.
