I don’t seem to be able to stop legitimate mail going into junk, I’d even go to the extreme of getting rid of the junk folder totally but there seems no way of doing either ... anyone help please ?
 
Since you don't say what you have tried so far it is a little hard to advise. I have regular mail periodically show in the Junk folder and if i tag it "Not Junk" from the tool bar that seems to help. Do you have some Mail Rules set up that send certain headers or keywords to the Junk folder? My problem is too much junk mail. Good luck.
 
Thanks chaps, It’s an iPad there is no “not junk” button, all you can do is go into the junk folder, hit ‘edit’ and ’mark’ non junk and ‘move’ them to in-box, a bit of a work up and it doesn’t ”train” the app ie it doesn’t learn what is and isn’t junk, there seems to be nothing in “settings” either.
 
iPad doesn't move anything into Junk. There's no built-in junk mail functionality in iOS or iPadOS as far as I know.
The message is being moved into Junk either by your email provider or another mail client with access to that email account - another computer perhaps.

Moving the message back to the inbox usually will indicate to whatever that you want to keep messages from that sender.
 
If the mail is being synced to other devices, it's likely the other devices may be controlling the mail behavior.

Specify what mail app you are using and whether you are only using this email on a single device or synced across multiple devices.
 
My apologies big time ... it might well be synced to an iMac tucked away somewhere I didn’t think about that for a second, well done thank you ... I’ll check it out in the morning ...

Yes I’ve turned it off on my iMac, I think, and it’s better but still filtering stuff, as you say Tracey more than frustrating
