Reading all of these articles about how Apple has been unsuccessful at bringing the FaceID under the screen, why have they not thought about using the Touch ID button like they still have on other devices? Is it just not as easy as it sounds?! Or is it they won’t go backwards and go back to Touch ID now that FaceID is a thing? 🤔 And not even sure if this has been asked before.

It's on iPads too.

Touch ID is certainly possible on iPhone, and in fact rumor is pretty strong that it's going to be used on the iPhone Fold.

Touch ID is coming back on Apple's folding iPhone.

Face ID is a "nice to have" feature, but not critical. They're not going to revert back to Touch ID just because they can't get it under the display. With fold, Apple has no choice because they're not going to duplicate Face ID outside and inside the phone.

I wish they would incorporate the same Touch ID they use on iPad Mini with iPhones instead of Face ID.
