My refurb blackbook also has the nice matte finished case and 2GB of RAM. Unfortunately, it seems to have an awfully chattery 160GB Hitachi HDD. One more thing to deal with this weekend I guess. (sigh)

At least I have a loaner to use in the mean time.

Edit: Issue resolved.

Sorry to hear about the noisy drive. I'd call Apple ASAP and let them know and that you are really disappointed in this. Perhaps they may offer ya even a better deal or at the minimum replaced the drive. Best of luck to ya! ;)

Aww, I only got 1GB with mine. ;D

Fortunately, I had ordered up 4GB the day after placing my order, so I should stop swapping when I get it tomorrow.

Mine only had the 1Gig also - and only 1 chip. But the MacBook seemed total new - not a scratch on it.

Maybe Apple's taking out the 512's and putting in 1Gig chips - they must need the 512's as replacement parts for older Macs still under warranty.

I decided to get 2x2Gig chips anyways - found the 4 Gig kit on sale for $74!

Works great!!! (until 10.6 that is)

I just got my black refurb macbook, not a single scratch or scuff whatsoever. It's mint, and has been running smoothly(and unbelievably fast) since I got it. Using those old pentium 4 beasts feels like living in the dark age(xp, of course). I'm still learning about the OS and every day I learn something more that makes my life easier. A fantastic deal for $1,049. Will be getting Final Cut Express and a 2 gig ram stick soon for about $220. Goodbye Pc forever!

Here too.

But did you read the latest front page news?

We may be seeing that Aluminum MacBook in a few months anyways...

$1049 for a Black MacBook seemed to good a deal somehow...

aluminum that sounds like it will have crappy airport signal
