you're not wrong about the battery life. It sucks on all iPhones.

Every concert i go to i always bring a mophie juice pack. That constant data usage combined with video/pic taking drains it fast.

But the iPhone takes better videos and pictures at concerts than every point and shoot ive ever had.

I agree about the battery especially coming from a Note 2. I even bought a morphie air but returned it because I also wanted syncing with micro usb (did not know). I might try out ibattz mojo refuel with removable batteries for $65 from Samsclub.
But I got to tell you; I don't miss the large screen of the Note 2. I was the largest Android fanboy but I realized that Apple is doing it right. Sooner or later Android OEM's are going to run out of options. Naturally I looked at the Note 3 but I don't want or really need such a large display. Hands aren't getting any bigger and after 5 inches (mainstream) and 6.44 inch (phablet) what's going to happen? I can see Apple going 4.3-4.5" next year at a resolution of 2272x1280 for 3 or maybe 4 years and then upgrade the screen again to 5" for anther 2 to 3 years. That's 5 to 7 years for Apple. The Android OEM's are already there so what's next?
I see a lot of Android to Apple switchers next year. I just decided to get a one year head start.

Turn off background app updating. Also, if it was a big concert then maybe your phone was constantly searching for service. I have been using mine most of the day and it is at 51%. Been 12 hours.

Ah right, does that drain the battery? I suppose the solution would be to put it in airplane mode?

Stop taking cell phone pictures at concerts! It's annoying to the people behind you. Hate watching a show through somebody's screen.

ha ha yeah point taken.. I wanted to test out the 5S :)

The edge that 4G LTE on the 5S has is that it's a world phone. We no longer need a different phone for TMO, than AT&T, than Verizon, Than Orange, than.... you get it. Speeds are the same, sure, but the LTE on the iPhone is the best of (or on par with) any other phone to date.

Assuming you get the Verizon iPhone. But agreed. Hopefully this becomes a trend.

Are you using facebook on your phone? If so, you may want to delete it and the messenger, they drain your battery like crazy. There are several articles on the internet about it.

you can't say crappy battery yet, needs at least 2 weeks of charges and calibration to get it to proper levels.

shutting off 4G at a minimum and probably even better to just use 2G while at the concert vs. rendering it completely useless. It's the constant searching for a strong signal that kills the battery and 2G is a much lower draining radio.

I thought people might like hear opinions re 5s from a non Applefanboy and non Applehater!

Pros:
Camera - much better, flash worked well and performed much better in low light. See pic below. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Z1
Slow mo was very cool, bit gimmicky, but I like it :)
IOS 7 - lots of improvements over previous iOS, couldn't really fault it
Fingerprint Scanner - much quicker and more accurate than I thought it would be
4G - lightening quick

Cons:
Battery - one word - abysmal! I went out to a concert last night and with moderate use it went from 100% (4pm) to 27% (11pm)
Screen size - just too small really. Apple need to offer a larger alternative.
Speakers are pretty average
Headphones are an improvement, but still crap

Do you have some unnessacery features turned off? Like parrallax effect, background app updating) etc
