That's what I was afraid of. I guess a 5400rpm IDE drive will have to work.
Works fine for a Ti

Yeah, the batteries will do that. I've got maybe 30-40 seconds with the one in my 1Ghz Mac.Just got my AC adapter in the mail and got this thing running! It runs surprisingly well for a 12 year old computer with only 667 MHz. I used Safari and played a youtube video at 240p and everything worked fine. The screen is also really nice.
Now I have just two problems remaining:
I can't get on my school's wifi or ethernet because it requires you to install security software on your computer. The software is only available on 10.5 or later :/ Why do schools do that?
The battery is also pretty much shot, it has 242 cycles on it according to Coconut battery. It lasted 30 minutes then shut off. That would be fine except that it said 100% at first, then dropped to 7%, then shut off without warning. I hope I can get it calibrated better than this. Right now the first green dot on the battery is just flashing.
The software is called Safe Connect. When I download the .pkg it won't even open and the browser won't get past the safe connect page. Just as a shot in the dark I opened the .pkg on my Macbook and copied the app file over. When I clicked it on the powerbook it seemed to open and the "safeconnect" process was running in the activity monitor. However, no luck with the internet.
My campus uses Resnet if that helps.
Just curious as to how this will help him connect to this network?Try using Tor.

The app he is trying to run is necessary to allow his TiBook to connect to the network. Sure, he could use Tor, but that's useless to him if the network does not let him connect.
Some other facts He can't just use Tor. The Tor Browser is not universal. It hasn't been available for PowerPC for a long time. That leaves him having to use Vidalia for the proxy and then the Tor browser extension.
Assuming he's going for security instead of just simply trying to connect, unless he nails down every setting he's vulnerable. That means a plethora of other addons.
tto
In this instance JAP might be more secure as they still use addons and not a dedicated browser. Or any number of the other Firefox addons out there, all of which locks him into using a Mozilla based browser (with some exceptions) and none of which solves the problem of actually connecting him to the network.
OK I've yet to see that. If I take my PowerBook to Starbucks, Vidalia can't connect to anything unless I open a browser and click on Starbucks WiFi TOS Acceptance page.Tor should bypass the screens that show up when you connect to some public wifi hotspots.
