Hi All,

Just bought an IPP 10.5 from someone in FB- brand new, still in wrapper. Space Grey 256 WIfi model for $400.

A few questions-

1. Decent deal?
2. Once I activate it with my Apple ID, will I have a brand new one year warranty from when I activate it?
3. If #2 is yes, am I eligible for AppleCare? The white spot issue freaks me out
4. It comes with ios11....I know iPadOS is so much more usable...but if I don’t care, is it worth to update or just stick with ios11?

Thanks!

1. Good deal
2. The warranty starts from whenever the other person purchased it.
3. Apple care can only be purchased within a set time period once it is bought (by original person). When you log into it with your Apple ID you will be able to see then if point 2 is correct and also if you can get apple care for it or not.
4. Update to IOS 13. Despite some finding it abit buggy makes the Ipad more useful IMHO.

1. Great deal.

2. If you buy from Apple, the warranty starts when it ships or when you pay for it. Elsewhere, it starts when you activate it.

3. If you buy from Apple, you have 60 days from date of purchase. Otherwise you have 60 days from date of activation.

4. Install iPadOS.

Holy cow! Really?
He probably bought it before it was 2.5 years old.
uhm no.. like a month ago. I had to check amazon quick now for US prices and couldn’t find it close to sub $400 there so I’m not sure why it’s “holy cow”?

Anyway sure I’m definitely looking through a swede’s perspective on pricing, where our sales tax is sky high and our currency currently is very weak vs the dollar. I paid the equivalence of ~$520 and that was by bargain hunting!

I bought mine used (but like new and with the battery still at 90%), LTE 256 for 500, so yes yours is a great deal. It's amazing except the white spot, which I do my best to hide with using dark mode (and sometimes event smartinvert) whenever possible

Thanks for the answers. Seems like they 10.5 weakness is the white dot issue. Seems like almost all 10.5 have this issue?

I definitely plan on getting Apple Care since the warranty didn’t start until today’s activation. Normal warranty expires 10/2020- do u guys recommend Apple care or not? Are the white dots on all 10.5 or certain batches?

If I do buy Apple care, I wonder is it the new one where they don’t limit you to 2 years or is it the old one where 2 years is max...

No, I've never seen one with the white spot issue and there's another thread recently where many people said they didn't have the issue. People who don't have an issue won't usually go on a forum to tell people their devices are working fine. If you read forums you'll get a much worse impression of the reliability of any any device.

Only Apple knows (and at this stage not even them) how long they want to keep an ipad updated. My guess is thy will keep the pros for very long

people here are selling 64GB versions for 700€.

but my country is downright <insert a horrible adjective> when it comes to 2nd hand Apple goodies.

400€ (still more than 400$) is a 64GB one with a huge dent on the back.

god i hate this country

Funny thing- the seller won the IPP at his work raffle and he didn’t even know it was engraved until we ripped the wrapper and opened it. But it’s actually pretty cool.
