Hi All

I have a maxed out MBP 15" and would never get rid of this, I need stuff like VMWARE for work. But like using the iPad form factor on the sofa and playing odd random games.

I also have a iPad Air 2 and mini 4, I've decided to sell the mini 4 and replace with a PRO 12". This would leave me with a Air 2 128GB and PRO 12" 128GB. I have kids so they use them, hence having two iPads in the house

I bought it today & a pencil. I just couldn't make up my mind between the 9" or 12" PRO

I've read all the pros and cons, 2GB vs 4GB and camera etc, screen

Is the screen that much better on the smaller PRO compared to the larger 12" ?

I still have 14" days to return to the store, but can't make my mind up.

I think if you can manage the size of the screen when you leave the office/house and it's not too big it's a good choice. I looked at it in the store and it's to big for me at meeting, plane, being portable so I have the Pro 9.7. I also use a HP Spectra 360 as my laptop so Apple is not my primary work device.

Yeah I can always use the Air 2 for planes and trains. But I dont really ever take them out the house. I always use my MBP 15"

12" if the size will fit in day to day life, looking and comparing the 9.7" to the 12.9" screen... I see the 9.7" with a slightly brighter display and a little more saturated colors, (though the color accuracy is still better on the 12.9") Also the speakers, 4GB RAM, faster CPU, large size for drawing/sketching/notes... makes the 12.9" the best choice for the "pro" iPad... IMO

My wife just returned from Chicago and the guy next to her on the plane had the 12.9 Pro. She asked him how he liked it and his response was "I LOVE it!" Now my wife wants one.

I'm really not sure why anyone would think it's too big for a plane either. I've seen people use 17" laptops and I've comfortably used a fifteen inch model (other than people getting up but that's just a laptop problem). I think the 12.9" would be well within the sweet spot and it has a smaller footprint than a 13" laptop would have.

After demoing both models, I have to say the 12.9" iPad Pro feels like a "new" kind of product and the 9.7" feels like they just crammed everything that was great about the 12.9" into a smaller, less comfortable form factor when it comes to the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

Basically, if you want your iPad to be more of a laptop with only occasional tablet use, the 12.9" makes the most sense. If you want an iPad for traditional tablet use and only occasional laptop use, than go with the 9.7".

Side note: The Smart Keyboard experience on the 9.7" was so lackluster it killed the entire appeal of the product for me. Typing was very odd and uncomfortable and my fingers kept bumping the screen and triggering the on-screen shortcut buttons when clicking any key in the top row. Not ideal. I suppose I would get use to it after awhile, but it was a turn off for me in-store.

I bought the 12.9 of Swappa, will get it by Tuesday. I really want to see, if is too big, or because is bigger, is actually better do to the extra screen real state. I will give the big Pro a couple days, if not, will stick with my Ipad Air 2, and unload the Pro again to some one else.

If the Ipad Pro 12.9 is too big for me, maybe in the near future, I will upgrade the smaller Ipad Pro.

Though the reason I wanted to get the big Ipad Pro, it is because I figure, it will feel like a new experience, either for good or bad. The other small Pro, besides the pen, will simply feel like spec bump.

I tested both and my first try I could I only type 55 wpm on the 9.7 keyboard, I typed 80 wpm on the bigger keyboard. Still slow on it compared to what I can type but it was significantly better and easier to type on the larger keyboard, both will take time to get use to it, but I don't think I could ever type the way I would like on the 9.7

The 12" is the only real Pro model. The 9.7 is just a small upgrade from the air 2.

I disagree. The only things the 12.9" has that the 9.7" doesn't is the 4GB of RAM and the larger size display. Neither of those prevent the 9.7" doing anything the 12.9" can. Both support the pencil. In terms of primary functionality they are overall the same with both having certain other advantages over the other.

There is no way you can compare the 12.9" to a laptop. Apart from a similar size display there are like chalk and cheese. For the iPad Pro 12.9" to be comprable to a laptop it would have to use a full OS like the Surface Pros. It's basically just an oversized tablet with a cut down OS. There is nothing wrong in that and the iPads do have their uses but they aren't going to replace a laptop with a full OS.

As for the 9.7" Pro's keyboard it's obviously not the same as or as good as a full sized keyboard especially that of a laptop but for what it is it does a good job. I don't have any problems using it although I would not use it extensively on a regular basis. I'm typing on it now and find it pretty easy to use without any major issues.

I have the original pro and returned my new mini pro, as I prefer my larger one. i consume more content in my bigger one my biggest gripe is that I just did not find the screen size comfortable for taking notes on and I was already struggling on my pro.
Camera I could not care less for as I have a 6s plus and s7 edge. If I want amazing photos I get my Daly out.

I just bought a ipad pro 12.9 off of swappa today. Im kicking myself though because last week I could have got a 128gb for 675 off of craigslist. But I told the guy I would pass, I wasn't sure if I needed one, but after playing with them at bestbuy again I had to get one.

Hopefully I enjoy it enough to keep it, then I will sell my ipad mini 4.

Is the sound on the 9" Pro different to the 12" Pro or now both the same ?
The 12.9 inch is 3x as loud as the Air 2 and the 9.7" is 2x louder than the Air 2... after comparing the 12.9" Pro to the 9.7" Pro, I can confirm the larger one is indeed louder and even has better Bass. The 9.7" is no slouch though, just not AS good as the 12.9"... but of course YMMV. :)

This is true. I tried going from the 12.9 to the 9.7 pro to give it a shot but just couldn't. Not only the size difference which was even more evident coming from the 12.9 but the speakers on the 12.9 are fuller with a richer sound and deeper base than the 9.7 that at higher volume gets a little tinny. Returning the 9.7.
