I just bought a refurb Alu iMac, just the base 20" to tide me over until Montevina MBP's hit.

This will be my first Mac.

The PC I'm currently using has the following specs:
Pentium 820D Smithfield @ 2.8Ghz
1GB RAM
ATi Radeon 9250.

How much of a boost am I looking at in performance, when it comes to games? I realize that the HD2400Pro isn't anything special by any means, but I'm guessing it's going to be leaps and bounds better than my 9250?

yeah the HD2400 is MUCH faster than a 9250 there is no comparison

9250 gets about 7fps in doom 3 yes SEVEN
HD2400 pro gets around 67fps

Haha, I expected as much.

The 9250 sucked even when it came out

Are you "switching" or keeping your PC for gaming?

Can't you just get a new video card?

I'm switching.

I still have the PC, but that's going to be thrown into my attic, never to see the light of day again.

I don't really intend to do any hardcore gaming on this, probably just some City of Heroes. I'll save my hardcore stuff for when I get my MBP for college in June ;)

Get the updated bootcamp drivers from ATIs site. They wlll improve the performance of the 2400 greatly over the original Leopard bootcamp drivers.

My refurb 2.4 GHz is on the way. I already have 4GB RAM from OWC, and a list of software to consider from https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/417741/

Are there any additional drivers I should update? I am desperately looking forward to a faster computer :D
