As stated I just ordered through Apple last night an Iphone 11 128gb in Red. When I ordered it on their site I specified I will be using it on Verizon and will activate it later. I chose I will activate it later because I am currently using a Pixel 2 XL that was part of a "Buy one get one free" deal and will receive my final bill credit on June 4th, at which time I will activate my new Iphone 11 on June 4th.

My questions are:

1. Will my new phone come with a Verizon sim card so that when I do turn it on it will activate on the Verizon network? I have never bought a phone through Apple, always through my carrier so I'm not sure.

2. If it doesn't come with a Verizon sim card, is it safe to assume I will need to call Verizon and have them send me one? I am thinking I can't use the same sim card that is in my Pixel 2 XL, correct?

3. Regardless of the sim card, can I turn on my new iphone for the next 3 weeks WITHOUT a sim card in it and use it just on wifi without it being activated on Verizon? I ask this because I know I am going to want to start setting it up and playing around with it, installing apps, etc. If I have to keep it turned off in the box until June 4th I will, but I know I will be eager to start playing around with it and getting used to it if I can.

I know some might ask "why did you order it now if you can't use it until June 4th on Verizon. Basically my wife and I decided on getting new phones on June 4th but last night she decided to order her new iphone since for her, her phone isn't effected by the Buy one get one free deal and the timing doesn't matter for her phone. So last night when she decided to order her phone (she decided on the Iphone 11 128gb Yellow) she asked me if she should just go ahead and order mine as well and I figured what the heck.

I believe both phones use nano sim so I would expect it to be fine. Here in the uk apple sell their phones unlocked and not tied to a carrier therefore in theory would be able to keep the existing sim and put that in the new phone so it activates.

How did you pay for the iPhone 11?

Full-price, AppleCard or iPhone Upgrade Program? I think you still need a Verizon SIM card installed for initial setup but it doesn't have to be a working SIM.

Verizon installment plan? I think it might be too late now.

I paid full price and bought it outright through Apple.

Talking to my wife tonight, based on the monthly billing I should be about to activate it in another week (Not June 4th as we originally thought).

And thank you both, I appreciate the replies/info.
