I decided today to buy Apple Care for my lovely new iPhone 6

I intend to keep it for two years no matter what Apple bring out next year so hopefully it will give me two years with no worries!

Just for the record I think the iPhone 6 is my perfect phone in every way I love it!

IMO Apple Care is useless if you have a case that fully protects the edges of the phone. I've had my iPhone 5 for 2 years, and I've dropped it plenty of times, and it's still in close to perfect condition. Only thing are some chipped edges from scuffgate, since I have the black i5, but the 6's don't have that problem.

I went and bought mine at lunch today!

I am still concerned. I'd hope not to crack the screen because that will be total cost of $170 (or $179) whereas if I didn't have AC+, it would run me $109.

BUT if it was dropped in water or something crazier, then it is just the $170 total and not the $360 or was it $260 they told me.

PS. I am case-less. I was case-less on my iPhone 4 too. and didn't have issues with with 4 but figured with 2 young kids who might be grabby, I'd go for it.

Everyone says if you have a case you're okay, but cases only protect so much. Also, there is a LOT of things that can go wrong in additional to the screen breaking.

I had applecare before when Apple started to support T-Mobile. I was able to return my AT&T phone for a T-Mobile phone and they didn't charge me anything. I've also been able to swap my phone before I needed to sell it so I have a perfect condition iPhone to resell. It's always worked out great for me. If people don't want it that's fine, but I think it's worth it.

Personally, I've never broken a phone - but then I lead a dreadfully dull life.

My wife and kids, OTOH, have broken several each.

Bottom line: Well worth it. And remember, bigger screen = bigger target to break.

By the way it may sound rehtorical but AppleCare is insurance. You can cancel at any time and get a pro-rated refund of the remaining time like all insurance.
