...from Crucial, as advised by past topics on this board. I have a g4 ibook (1.0ghz). the memory they suggested and i bought had these specs:

Module Details:

Module Size: 1GB
Package: 200-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR PC2100
Configuration: 128Meg x 64
DIMM Type: UNBUFFERED
Error Checking: NON-ECC
Speed: 266
SDRAM Timings: CL=2.5
Specs: DDR PC2100 • CL=2.5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR266 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64

but, while searching these forums i hear that the ibooks should get the 200 PIN SODIMM- DDR - PC 2700 ram. Did i get the wrong ram or did i get slower ram?

No, it's only the new 1.33 and 1.42 GHz iBook G4's that require PC2700. You are good to go on these.

As far as I know....

Those iBooks use 2100. However, 2700 clocks down with little to no problems to 2100 and therefore can be used in those iBooks. You did good by getting the 2700 anyway, because it is used more in newer things and will have a higher resale value, or could work in a newer system, such as a new iBook or PB if you decide to upgrade!

i just went to the apple site and they suggested the 2700 too. so i'm not sure if i should try to cancel and get the 2700 or stick with what i got. the 2700 is cheaper too.

I dont think that you will need or should cancel your order. 2100 will be fine, because
like CanadaRam said the 2700 is intended for the new models.
