    Okay, I caught the bug.

    Purchased:

    2 x Monitor 70's ($300)
    2 x Monitor 30's ($80)
    1 x CS2 (Center) ($100)

Just need a solid subwoofer. I'm guessing my old Sony SA-W2500 10" will be pretty much useless with the Monitor 70's? What would you suggest on a budget? The 10" 50 watt Polk PSW10 is $99 while the 12" 300 watt PSW505 is $169. That seems like a lot more oomph for $70 more? Will I sacrifice sound quality to go with that much more power in such an inexpensive box? Are they worth the upgrade over the sony?

Last question - would I have any reason to think the Yamaha RX-V596, which puts out 100W to 5 channels, wouldn't be sufficient to power the above?

Why not try out the new setup with your existing sub first? You might be perfectly happy with the sound...

Is the amp 100 watts per channel (i.e., 500 watts), or 100 watts total? If the latter, I doubt it's ability to adequately power a 5.1 system. If the former, it will be fine.
