If you are referring to the 15"+ of last year, Apple had the latest arrandale technology. With the 13", you could argue that it was Intel that forced apple's hand in keeping older CPU's in order to offer a way more decent GPU than what intel had.

We could argue back and forth all day LOL.

As a consumer, had I bought the MBP early last year I would be Pissed, and I would not point fingers at Intel... Incremental upgrades are inevitable, but to have a 13" i5 smoke practically everything even a 17" top end MBP last year is robbery.

True, but didn't the same thing happen to all other brands that depend on intel?

That's how technology goes. I'd much rather Apple/Intel piss off a few people than cripple the 2011 machines just to avoid this kind of backlash.

I've also just bought the 13" i5 and bought 8GB RAM from Crucial, will save up for an SSD in the coming months...early impressions = fantastic machine for it's size, weight and price :)

Indeed amazing, i'm really glad I sold my 2010 15" i5!!!

GPU bottleneck

I Can not justify spending money on a crappy GPU. The 13 2011 mbp should had a least a 512 integrated gpu in it.
:mad::apple:
Ivy bridge is worth the wait.....

That is funny that people are all crazy over something that is speculated and people are expecting it to be liquid cooled. If you NEED a computer now, these are fine. I probably was one of the first people to get a new quad i7 2.2 and while mine runs hot, it is no hotter than my Classic Penryn was, and this is 3x faster!

It performs no worse for me in WoW or SC2 than the 330m did. Also if you are buying a 13" lappy for a gaming machine you are doing it wrong. Also expect external video cards to come out soon that will use the thunderbolt port.

got the 13" too and really like it, selling my 24" imac but I really dont know how'll i'll cope with the 13 as my main computer the screen is pretty small but no way was I paying an extra £500 for the 15

only problem is my g/f is looking forward to the extra space when the imac and the unit and the leather chair all leave the living room !:eek::eek:

Can this MBP play blackops or modern warfare 3 when it comes out? The 13" seems like it has ****** gpu. Help is appreciated

Nope. Other brands updated their laptops throughout the year with slightly better processors and GPUs than the first ones and even lowered prices throughout the year unlike apple who waited 11 months to update.

It will probably run the game, but won't be playable... well unless you enjoy playing games at like 10fps :)

Half-Life 2 is almost a decade old and was also coded to run well on low end specifications when it was initially released. Try something else.

Pffft the whole engine was overhauled in 2007 to support new shaders and HDR... Nice try ;-)
