Just bought the 2011 model, 2012 model is not worth it.

My first reaction to the omission of the optical drive was negative. But now, I realize that better than just having a CD/DVD burner, I will be able to have a Blu-Ray external drive.

Buffalo makes a USB 3.0 drive that is just $140.00. Only negative is that is in a black case and not silver to match the iMac.

Just get a can of spray paint

just a quick tidbit i read somewhere that the iMac is not that skinny as it claims to be they refer to in my words the slight bulge at the back of the machine ...

Yes we know this, I guess we'll have to wait and see what they look like in real life but did we really think they would be just 5mm thick across the whole back? Unless they moved the bulk of the components to the foot it's always going to have some bulge in the back.
