How you doing guys and gals. I recently just purchased a Macbook Pro. This is actually my second laptop. I use to have a Acer that I specifically used for school work.

I come from Pc's and built a rig about 4 years ago.

Intel P4 Hyper threading 3.2
2gb of ram etc etc. 512 ati radeion card I mainly used that for gaming and multimedia.

Also have a dell computer used for the basic computer needs.

Just bought a 15in Macbook Pro

Processor 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4GB 1066Mz DDR3 SDRM-2x2GB
Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA @ 7200
Video Card: 512MB

I plan on booting up Windows Vista 64bit on the bootcamp.

This will be my first apple product besides the ipod and I definitly want to learn about the Leopard operating systems.

Also i wanted to upgrade to more memory, taking a brief look i noticed that it is capable but not sure if its worked out properly.

Congrats, I am also planning on getting one in the next week. What do u think of it?

I own a 15incher and I love it. I recently just upped the HD capacity to 500gb which I quickly discovered runs hotter then the old drive :p

Anywho I had the pleasant experience of learning that most of the productivity apps I use on Windows have a counterpart or at least a port. I still have XP for the wonderful steam games I play on still.

Ahh video games. They'll be the death of me one day!

Enjoy the computer!

Congrats! I bought one last week (2.4ghz) and I love it. I haven't installed Vista yet. I've heard some people say the Vista disc is too big for the superdrive. Can anyone comment on that?

Congats! I just picked up the 2.53 15" tonight as well. Couldn't decide between this and the 17" so I figured I'd see if I could deal with 1440x900 before going for the larger one.

I'm buying that model on Friday (though with the 320gb 7200rpm)... can't wait.

We highly recommend it too, baaah:

Congrats. I just purchased mine during the Xmas season as well, having come from a PC only background, and I'm loving it.

I went with the same setup, except I kept the 320gb stock 5400HDD since the higher data density seems to make up for some of the lower RPM's. The thing performs excellent, and I'm sure you'll be happy.

Bootcamp went extermely easy. I loaded XP Pro SP3 onto it as my bootcamp partition, and VMware Fusion and it's been running great (although you'll quickly notice that Windows wont work right w/ your keyboard/etc until you load the apple Windows software on the apps cd, but a reboot later you're golden).

I actually dont use my Windows partition, or Windows computer, much anymore. OSX is so much nicer and efficiant IMHO. The only reason I even bootcamp'd it was in case my wife needed an app that only runs in windows (school) to limit dragging around multiple laptops when we're out on vacation or whatever. The only reason I even use my main PC is because it's a custom built gaming rig (Intel E8500 @ 3.7ghz, 4gigs memory, ATI HD 4850 512Mb, 1.7TB HDD space, etc) so as nice as games like WoW run on my Macbook that thing was built to game. Outside that... my nice gaming rig I built recently is my wifes internet and school machine. :)

Welcome!

It's a seriously great laptop. It took me 3 exchanges to get a good unit (which sucks, but hey, Apple replaced my 2007 macbook pro with a unibody so who I am to complain??), but I'd gotten a good one, I fell head over heels for it. Like a night and day difference to me now.
Enjoy yours!

I'm a recent convert, too!

i came over to Planet Mac in November, got my unibody 15 MBP during the first couple weeks they were out.

I use and love VMWare and don't use BootCamp.

Might be worth your time to research (also Parallels, I don't have it, but probably about as good, give or take).

Congratulations!
