Just called and spoke to 2 different reps...Neither budged lol.

Oh well I suppose we all can't be lucky :)

Sorry to hear that! I was going to tell you to try tomorrow but I'm sure they make notes in the system. I guess it's how you approach it too. I actually recorded the conversation but then deleted it as I didn't feel like be harassed about how illegal it is to record someone without their permission.

Anyway, I was just straightforward, acknowledged that I understand they know nothing about iPhone 5, and explained how I have absolutely no problem with AT&T but at the same time I'm going to do what's cheapest for me. I got no attitude or hastiness from the rep and was quite pleased with the call.

So to anyone else who tries, just be real and straightforward and it might work to your favor. :)

More likely than not, when you do go to upgrade, you'll find that they started you on a new 2 year contract the day that they applied the $250 to your account.

Yea it seems like they would try to lock you in some how. Otherwise you could take the $250 and still cancel. At $175 (I think that's what your ETF was) you still make out.

If you have another line that's upgrade eligible, you can swap upgrade dates with it.

Grrrr...I could totally use this but my wife is so overdue for a phone. She still has the 3g.

Come on people ATT does this every year...if you are within 6 months of your upgrade date, they will let you upgrade. They can't tell you right now, because a new iphone has not been announced. After tomorrow, you will be able to log into your ATT account and you will see that you are eligible for an upgrade. I got my iphone 4 on release date. But my ATT account says i am not eligible for an upgrade till 11/25/11.

You sure about this? I am due on 11/17 and I was a release day iPhone 4. I would be a real happy camper if this proves true.

I hope you're right, I'm in the exact same boat. Launch-day iP4, upgrade date of 11/25/11. I've only been a customer since '10 though, and my bill is pretty low ($75).

I am paying $170 a month and I am only a week ahead of you. I really do not get how they figure these dates. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason.

Did you dial *639# I did my date is not till nov but I can upgrade to a iPhone right now. Every year AT&T let's me upgrade.

What? Mine is November as well and I would have to pay for the phone, $250 to upgrade and $18. I assume you would have to do the same.

Forget about it, I was hoping to have my upgrade eligibility date moved up from November 2012. No chance, right?

Sucks.

AT&T can not change or move upgrade dates on Apple products, she wasn't lying, and no supervisor can override that. It is part of their contract with Apple.

so she just credited you $250 for a phone you haven't bought, and now have no obligation to buy?

I guess the gamble paid off because you are going to buy it Im assuming, but they could have just essentially gave you $250 for nothing

They gave me $250 as an incentive to bribe me to stay. When pharmaceutical reps come to the hospital, they bring tons of food and pens and such. They give it to us for "free" in hopes that we will start using their product.
