My brother has a 16GB.

Old friend gave it to him (shipped from California) and doesn't want to sell it.

I even offered to pay the difference for the upgrade. LOL

Still working the iPad 1 (jailbroken) and does everything I need since day one. I only use my laptop when I need to render or work with Photoshop or Illustrator.

Rocking this apps without any problem or crash.

Will get the iPad 5 though, I deserve a beautiful white & silver one.

I still have one, as my wife. She uses her's all the time, mine has all but fallen into disuse thanks to my mini. My kids use the iPad 1, but only if my mini is not available to be used, i.e., I'm using it.

I had an iPad 1 16GB last year and I love it but the problem is I am hearing impaired and need FaceTime to chat with other hearing impaired so I was forced to upgrade to an iPad 2 and love it. iPad 1 crashed few times but it doesn't bother me at all. :apple:

Spouse has my old iPad 1

It serves her needs. She surfs, reads e-mail and plays solitaire. When the mini came out I offered to get her a new one, but she's satisfied with the 1 for now.

I have one, but it rarely gets used. Mainly for reading on and occasionally the newspaper.

iPad 2, with its larger amount of RAM, gets used much more often. Will be upgrading again when the 5 comes out, and hopefully a retina mini too.

It's still in the family. I gave it to my nephew; it was a good "starter" device for him and seems to be working okay. He will be wanting the "latest and greatest" soon enough. ;)

Probably time for an upgrade (or upgrade soon) if you use your Ipad 1 frequently. When I bought my first gen retina display, I gave my wife my IP1. It works fine for "static" tasks like having a recipe up on the kitchen counter while cooking. Also good for many basic games. But she uses it less and less for mail, web surfing because it is just too slow. it drives me crazy every time I have to use it because it's so laggy.

I have and still use my first gen iPad. It suits my needs for the moment:

Watching movies with my son, browsing the web(one page at a time), light gaming, Facebook.

I'll probably upgrade sometime next year and then pass the first gen down to my son when he's old enough.

iPad 1

Still have the 1 and use it daily. Ive got 3G and 32 gb, so it's had to give away. The wife has the iPad 3. The only minor issue is that some apps update needing IOS 6 and that leaves me out. Will consider the next iPad when it comes out, but with my hardware it's hard to part with $800 in the original investment.

I still have mine. We mainly use it in the kitchen. It is mainly used for MOG or Downcast and other audio streaming and is hooked up to a small speaker. It also has video apps like Slingbox that I will use if I am in the mood. We usually run a clock app or aquarium when it is just sitting there.

Since it is hooked up to the speaker via USB, it is always 100 percent charged, so my girlfriend can use it for reading when she is in the mood. I also have an iPad3, but it is more convenient to have an iPad in the kitchen all the time.

I have an iPad 1 which I still use almost everyday for Netflix, Time Warner Cable Live TV and and On Demand streaming.....

When I retire it from home use, I might permently install it in my car.

It's losts a lot of resell value (eBay sale price) but hasn't lost any usefulness.

Love my ipad 1

I have an ipad 1 on 4.2.1 ios. Recently bought an ipad mini. Even more recently got an ipad 4 which I haven't unboxed.

Although the ipad mini is great for portability, I still prefer my ipad 1 over it. The ipad 1 is only slightly slower in loading flipboard over the ipad mini. I haven't updated flipboard on the ipad 1 and it works just fine, imho. I play my favorite game, Rapio on the ipad 1 everyday and images definitely looks better on the bigger screen compare to the mini. Can't emphasize this enough as graphics just lose impact and beauty on the smaller screen. The 32Gb on my ipad 1 is down to only 2Gb free space and I've stopped downloading apps a long time ago. I've only tried out 20% of the apps and stuff I have on the ipad 1 due to the lack of time to check them out as I'm either on flipboard or Rapio in my free time. Still love my classic dinosaur and will not part with it even though battery last six hours now compared to the initial ten. Just secured 600 free Marvel comics throught Comixology a few days ago, and the new ipad 4 would be perfect to house them. Ahhh, life is great...:)

You made a smart choice not to upgrade to iOS 5.

I still have one.. Running iOS 5 unfortunately. (I like the notification center and iMessage, but the frequent low memory crashes get on my nerves at times.)

I intend to get an iPad 4 when I can afford it.

No. My ipad crashed way too much after ios 5, web browsing and games. The mini is my main device now.

I upgraded from an iPad 1 to an iPad 2 when they first came out because I really wanted a 3g model. I gave the iPad 1 to my parents.

They use the iPad 1 all the time and I use it occasionally when I visit them and it is painfully slow to me.

I'm afraid to try any of the newer models because if I do, the iPad 2 will probably seem painfully slow as well.

Use my iPad1 alot

I have an iPad3 and iPad1 - and I use the iPad1 regularly. Mostly to run a couple of MIDI apps (to talk to and control music keyboards and sound modules) and unrealBook (to read music PDFs). For those tasks, it does just fine.

iPad 1 is like iPhone 1. A new beginning but not necessarily aged well. I'm on iPad 3 waiting for ratina iPad mini; the current mini is another version 1.

Gave my iPad1 to my daughter , works good for kids games.
But i gotta say for me, its so annoying to use because it is considerably slower than my iPad3. I personally can't stand to use it anymore.

I'll probably get the iPad5 when it comes out, give my wife my iPad3, give my daughter her iPad2 and then give the iPad1 to someone less fortunate.
