It has a very large dent on the left front corner the mouse is on and off. I have best buy's 3 years insurance and I'm planning on taking it in on Saturday. I would like to know if anyone has been in this situation, Please Help!

pics or it didn't happen:D

Ok, sorry. Had to. A few years back a friend brought in his PC laptop to best buy and he was without it for a while as they repaired it. They did not give him a replacement or a loaner. It took a total of 3 months. Since you have physical damage they might replace it if it is a current model. Other wise I think they would repair it.

Yeah, BB just repairs the same unit, they don't instantly replace it. Replacement only happens if they are unable to repair it after a series of times or if it's been in service multiple times.

Keep in mind that Best Buy employees are basically born to lie about what their warranties cover.

They'll tell you things like it covers accidental damage or the battery just to get you to buy it when, in reality, it only covers basic or minor repairs.

I'm amazed at how solid this thing is. Everything seems to be working now I just have a very large dent. I'm calling best buy as a write this.

Anyhoo, they should repair it per the terms of the warranty (as long as that's what it said in the fine print) but you'll be without it for a while. If someone tries to tell you that they won't repair it, take it up with the manager and show them exactly where in the fine print your situation applies.

How does apple handle this stuff I have not owned this MBP for longer than a year.

Even if it was non-accidental, warranty does not cover the bottom case.

And this would be Tier 2 depot repair which is $600 flat.

Best buy's 24/7 even holidays help line is closed on thanksgiving, but I'm sure I'm covered.

If it's $600 for a repair ill take a hammer to the thing!

If you take a hammer to the thing, it's Tier 3 and the repair is $1200 (AKA they give you new computer)

Ok, so if i can't get it repaired or replaced I should take a hammer to it?

I wouldn't advise that nor do I condone it, but you are welcome to do what you want with your computer.

Also if you bought your computer with a credit card, did you check the product protection offered by them?

NO, you should send it to me. I'll buy parts to fix it and keep it as a backup. I'll even send you an old computer to take a hammer to if you really want to smash *hit:D

Run it over by a car :D They will replace it immediately.

Please let us know what BB ends up telling you.

If your bestbuy warranty doesn't end up covering for the damage, and if it is only the lower case that is damaged, then I would suggest ordering a new bottom case from iFixit.com. It will probably be $300+, but that would be cheaper than what they might charge for a repair. Good luck.

I just got off the phone with a geek squad person I AM covered for accidental damage and they will replace it. I guess it pays to buy the coverage.

But when I get a new MBP I will most definitely run this one over with my car!

edit: their 24/7 even holidays help line is closed on holidays

Sorry to hear about your MPB accident, it doesn't look to be any serious.

If it happened to me though and since I'm bit of itchy about it, I'd proably be unrested about that dent, but that's just me, I'm picky :D

Trust me, I'm not exactly happy about a dent in my multi-thousand dollar laptop.

my experiences with best buy are not so great. their warranties are crap and the employees lie about it all the time.

If they deny you i suggest you throw a fit.

Yeaaaa, the same thing happened with my MBP. I took a tissue paper, folded it several times, placed it over the dent, then I took a spoon and spent like 2 hours tapping it back into place. It's not perfect, but most people won't notice it unless they inspect it very closely.
