So yesterday I copy/pasted about 100 GB of files from an SD card to an external hard drive and started working on them in Premiere.
Today, I moved an unrelated file to the Trash and then decided I'd rather undo that action. I pressed Cmd + Z. A progress bar appeared saying "Undoing: Copy items". I quickly realized that it wasn't undoing my "move to trash" action, but rather yesterday's "copy files from SD card" action. It didn't ask "are you sure?" or anything, it just started "undoing" the copy without a second thought. I quickly cancelled this window but most of the items I copied simply disappeared in those few seconds. They're not in the Trash, they're nowhere to be found on the disk. Luckily they're still on the SD card but wow, this is a way to instantly and permanently lose data by simply pressing Cmd + Z.
So yeah I never realized this was a thing. I was going to do a backup today but this happened before I could even start that backup.
