i did notice the bookmark tab on the bottom, but it looked like it was just to set up the bookmark bar, not a way to add bookmarks in general. was i wrong? if so, i apologize. btw, i do like how you can set which button goes with each bookmark all at once. nice touch. i didn't check, but i would hope that you could also drag and drop those buttons to rearrange after the fact as well.

i will say that when i pushed delete to go back a page, it didn't. it just beeped at me. maybe a bug?

About bookmarks, the config tab is actually to set up the bookmarks. Oh, and i'll look into the delete thing*tests delete* it works for me, not sure about you but I'll look into it.

Thanks again

There are minor bugs in the graphics, I plan on fixing them shortly and they will be much cleaner in the next release.

my first reaction was...

great... the world needs another browser like i need an extra orifice, but man, that is one smoking fast mofo! keep at her with the interface tweaks and i'll be uninstalling some major crap off my harddrive. Godspeed.

Hey, yet another version...

There's yet another version of Lightbrowser available for download!

New in 1.2:
- Tooltips
- A big *** progress bar (yay)
- Changed the spinner to be incremental
- Stop loading button greys out when the page is loaded (and vice versa)
- Web icon support!
- The title of the window changes based on the title of the website you are on

This is one of the largest updates yet, so any suggestions you might have would be helpful :).

Download link: http://www.xiotios.com/Lightbrowser.dmg

My Website: http://www.xiotios.com

Thanks!

i do have a suggestion: name your updates something different from the previous update. i know i can do that manually, but i expect new versions to have new file names so it doesn't overwrite the previous file in case i need to back to it.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion *posts update on ftp server*. There, that should work :).

Crashed on me when hitting the back button...other than that its a great browser.

Hmm, I'll look into that back button thing. What OS are you using?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Any other suggestions or feedback?

I really don't care for the name. "Lightbrowser?" Too long and bland. If your browser is so quick and fast, why not call it "Lightwave" or "Light-Year" or something?

Yeah, good point. I'm not much for creating names...

Here's some feedback:

• It's really fast
• It's really ugly (mainly the toolbar buttons)
• You should make the bookmark system more like other bookmark systems
• Use the standard system toolbar. I don't like where the buttons are placed, and using the normal toolbar would alleviate that problem.
• Make the toolbar icons more visually distinctive. Don't use + and - for zooming in, because + has been used for bookmarks and many other uses. In most applications, there's an A with an up arrow for bigger text, or a big A for bigger text and a smaller A or A with a down arrow for smaller text.
• Your menus are not standard. For example, New Window should be at the top of the file menu. A lot of the time people like me don't even look at the menu, we just know where they should be, especially in apps like web browsers that try to be similar to eachother.
• You need tabs

Good job! and good luck with it

I second this! Great fast browser, but you need to give us back some screen space, the address bar and status bar are huge.

Can I use Litespeed for the next release?

i honestly wouldn't recommend it. google that name before you decide....there's an adult website (or used to be) with the name lightspeed. not sure you'd want to be confused with that. or maybe you would? :) :D

 Thanks for the heads up! Phew, that was a close one... Thanks for warning me.

  • It is really fast. I was impressed.
  • The button graphics still look like something that was done in Paint.
  • There's too much space given for the status bar, and no way of minimizing it.
  • The buttons don't explicitly show what their function is. I found myself clicking them wondering what they were going to do. I realize there's text letting you know if you hover, but I'm not accustomed to having to do that to work it out. The button image should clearly define what it does.
  • There isn't a way to just click somewhere once to highlight the address bar.
  • The bookmark system is too restrictive. There shouldn't be a limit on the amount of bookmarks you can have.

More negative than positive there I'm afraid, but I hope it's of some help to you. :)

Ok, I'll add that command into the app, and yes I programmed it to import your safari cookies. I'll fix the forward button too.

Thanks so much for all of your comments! :)

PS: The X is the stop loading button...

Hmm... Last I knew, Webkit imports the cookies for you, but I could be wrong. Other than that, nice work =]
