Looks like no new toys for me for a little while.

I'm really sorry to hear about this... :( Hope you're able to find something else soon. I know your not alone, many of my friends in Japan have been laid off too and now they're struggling to make ends meet. I hope you've been wise and put away something for a rainy day, cause now it's raining.

natebookpro, I hope that the job search is going well.

How close to D.C. are you? It sure seems like Montgomery County is living like there's no recession. My wife's car died last week and we needed a replacement fast. We had to wait before there was a sales guy free to wait on us. Then we went to a nearby mall for dinner. Place was jammed.
I find this interesting.

Seems like a universal truth around the world. Even in times like this, some places are doing very well completely oblivious to what is happening around them.

I'm sorry to learn this. Even in a time of recession, it is always a bummer to be laid off, and one's confidence - ireespective of the fact that you are blameless - takes a bit of a dive. I have been made redundant in the past, so I know the feeling an it's not a nice one.

My only advice is to keep looking, (not easy), try not to take it personally (even less easy at times), but use it also to take stock of your life, and ask yourself if there is anything new you wish to do, or learn, anyplace new you wish to see, or any new path you wish to explore. Perhaps now is a good time to think about such things, as one rarely has time to sit back and "take stock" when one is on the daily tread-mill of work.

Cheers and good luck
