.. My god didn't realise just how 'slow' my 2013 MBA was.
Work has given us all MS surface laptop to use and it was slower then my 8 year old MBA, so you can imagine my surprise when I got my new MBA and how much faster it was then either of the devices.

In the time I've opened the lid it's already authenticated with my Apple Watch and ready to use.

I love the feel of my old MBA but the new one is even better and the screen is stunning. I know there's 8 years between them, well worth the money. You can see all the little improvements that Apple have made over the years.

However there are 2 things I do miss about my old MBA.
Magsafe and the little charging LED so you can see that it charged with needing to switch on the machine.
The glowing/light up Apple logo.

I am still daily driving my MacBook Air 2013 i7 8gb with a modded cooler, fans are silent unless I push the cpu for at least 10 minutes. I use it for university CS degree with windows on a external nvme and it serves my needs. My Gf has a 2018 MacBook Air and the fans turn on just browsing a few tabs. I also have a Ryzen desktop and i will be buying a second hand m1/16gb macbook air to replace the desktop. I hope that m1 will last the same years my 2013 lasted.

I've had my 2015 MBA for about 3 years. Works great. I put a 2TB drive in it and it should last me for a few more years at least. Yeah, I'd like a newer one with better screen and battery, but this one works. 2018+ you can't replace SSD, so whatever you get, look ahead and get enough storage and ram to last.

Still going strong with a MacBook Air 2013 i7; 8GB RAM; 512 SSD.

Needs a new battery, but other than that, still great.

I noticed in Big Sur the screen graphics looks much better on the 2013 model (text is not washed out).

But..of course the new Retina Screen on the new MacBook Air is preferred.

Still happy with the MacBook Air 2013, even in 2021.

I just ordered a MBA M1, and the last macbook I had was the 2012 MBA. I didnt realize the charging LEDs were gone. Looking forward to having the nicer screen thats for sure. It will be replacing a Surface Pro 5. As much as I like touch screens, I wanted a device with a secure keyboard. Windows vs MacOS not really an issue, so I figured try the M1 MBA - getting so many great reviews and since I went back to an iPhone last year with Apple watch it will be good inetgration

I will go with a 256 16gb, I only need storage for apps as I work from external ssds. All in all my 2013 has been the best computer I ever bought now it will be a bootcamp machine for some classes at uni where we need to use windows

Just ordered a Air M1 to replace my 2013 Air that has started to feel quite sluggish. Looking forward to getting to use it. Even more so reading this. lol.

I hear the classics were nice but the MBA M1 is a sweet machine. Give it a few days to get used to it. Mostly Excellence from there.

I hate having to switch temporarily to my Thinkpad but it’s a must. I like my Thinkpad, it’s a good X86 win choice. After using the MBA M1? The Thinkpad has lost quite a bit of its original appeal.

Yeah can sympathize with the hate. haha. I got a cheap Dell laptop from work a few months back and i have hated every second with it (Keyboard flex/all over creaking, gets hot and poor battery life). So gonna use the Air for work instead and just continue to enjoy W10 whenever i game on my desktop. Because yeah maybe i´m weird but i enjoy both OS X and Windows. 😆

Congratulations on an amazing laptop.
We all miss magsafe.

There are adapters: this is the first that popped up with google. I'm not recommending this one ( please research, to find the best one for you ), just showing how much some of us miss it.
