My Uncle's Mac Mini started to not work properly, he called me and told me what was going on with it and I told him he needed a new hdd. He didn't bother listening to me and let some friend of his look at it since I'm half a world away (Hawaii -> Georgia). So his friend didn't do squat except open it and claim it was from dirt and dust. In the mean time my Uncle's job gave him a new MBP. So my Uncle let the Mini sit for 4 months.... Finally he decided he'd just give it to me to see what I could do with it. I got it today and opened it up. Took ram that I kept outta my iMac when it got upgraded and a 250gb hdd I got on clearance for $35. About an hour later and a fresh install of Snow Leopard, I have a wonderful little Mac Mini that works just fine. It was dirty, don't get me wrong, but I cleaned it out and it runs like a champ. I was really shocked how easy it was to do the upgrade. If you have a Mac Mini and have been afraid of opening it and doing these basic upgrades, don't be scared. It was simple and straight forward. I used the ifixit tutorial like anyone else would and it was just clear cut and simple.
