Just got a macBook pro. wont type G

i was setting my apple MacBook pro up and my g will not work. it comes up as a kind of a c thing, please help is this something wrong with apple or can it be fixed? thank you.

The copyright symbol? "option-g" will produce that. Can't imagine how the option would be stuck and not affect the other keys though. Does this happen with a particular font?

Are you holding down OPTION? Is this a brand new machine? If so, take it back.

That's the copyright symbol...either you are accidentally press the option key down while you type the G or your option key is stuck...does it only happen with the G?

WHat country did you buy the mac in? is the keyboard english layout? and does the symbol sort of ©??

Holding down option while pressing G will give you ©.

Open Disk Utility (use Spotlight to find it) and repair permissions. Shut down, hold down Option P and R until you hear the second boot-up BONGGGG... see if that helps.

My guess is that somehow you made the option key sticky (not literally of course). Go into system prefs and go into universal access and then go to eyboard and see if you have sticky keys turned on. Uncheck that item if you do.

Sounds like your option key is stuck...or you didn't pay for G.
