Any way you can tell us some of the questions they asked you? What was the interview like. I am a rising sophomore in college and there is an Apple store within bus distance. I am interested in getting a PT job there, but I would love to know how their job process works! I have 4 years of Apple tech and sales experience from my current job, just curious as to how you approached your application and interview! Thanks!

Wow absolutely

It was unlike any interview I've ever been to. I walked into the Piano Lounge at a Marriott hotel and was instantly greeted by one of the interviewers. I was lead to a series of couches where five people (2 women, 3 men) of varrying positions were introduced. One was the store owner in rva (richmond va) and the co-owner of this new one opening. It was very informal as we sat on couches in a circle and they were all drinking starbucks and they were dressed very casual.

They were all extremely friendly. Asked me many questions, such as
-how long i've been using macs
-my 'testamonial' story, being a recent switcher
-job experience
-what I thought would be important aspects of the position
-why I was qualified and the like..

They also stressed the value of teamwork as a focal point of their goals.
They repeatedly told me it wasN'T so much about up-saleing, as it is simply
finding the right mac products for the right user, which I found rather impressive.

They also asked about my spare time and flat out told me after hearing the work experience i have had that "i had more technical knowledge than 4/5 of the interviewers", but that I didn't talk tech and I could explain things in real people language

I also shared my macbook discoloration story with them (see thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/204203/)
which they seemed to like very much. They all stressed how much Steve
really checks his emails and they acted like they knew him...who knows..

The last thing I can think of is they asked what applications i use on my mac. They were impressed that I used things like parallels (which apparently they just started selling).

At the end they looked around and the manager said "well im sold, i'd buy a macbook from him, would you?" and everyone agreed.

I can answer more specific questions, but that's all i have for now. Day 2 and I haven't heard back  like i said, i don't like to count my chickens..

Don't sweat it. They told my other half that it'd be early next week before they started with the offers.

Still no word ?

le sigh

haha this is so crazy. I too just applied at an apple store! only its the one in Costa Mesa, CA.

( i didn't know about the forum thing and damn me for using my name! )

My interview went very much the same way, only i had two interviews. one last week with one of the senior assistant managers, and one today with the other senior assistant manager.

on my first interview i had to try and sell her a MBP in under two mins. lol she said i pulled it off with flying colors.

I wish you the best of luck man, and I hope for the best for myself as well, i see this as being a fun and beneficial job for me now that i'm going back to college. ( i'm just excited about all the photographers i will get to network with )

also - if i make no mention of me being a part of this forum, would they find out? and would i get in trouble?

If a stinky and extremely drunk person wearing "Bill Gates is God" walks into your store and starts stomping on Macs, proclaiming that Woz and Jobs are demons, and urinating on employees -- that would be me.

Nothing. There's a vigil going on around his Sidekick and our Vonage phone. :)
Yeah I hear that. I check my gmail account more often than notifier.

OK, I'm really intrigued by the "2 spots" that Apple's got in the mall, esp. considering they're 1/2 a mall apart. Although working at the main offices of another "dollar" type retail chain that's HQ'ed around here, I'd love for the Apple store to go into where the "A Dollar" store was. heh :)

Apple Computer Inc.'s logo appeared in the past week on the walls covering two vacant spaces at the downtown Norfolk mall. Despite this hint of the company's pending arrival, officials from MacArthur Center and Apple have nothing to say.

"We have made no announcements about that location," Apple spokeswoman Amy Barney said Tuesday.

Neither she nor mall managers would explain why the logo fronts two locations on the mall's second floor - one at the former Zie Spot store next to Harry & David and the other at the former A Dollar location near Dillard's.

I worked at another retail place here in the US and the minimum age was 16. I think a lot of employers want you to be able to drive.

yes that's federal law, in most cases being 16, and when i take the bar, i hope they don't see that i got hired at 15 1/2 at a fortune 500 fast food joint ;)

woah, wait...i don't need to be an attorney and make, possibly decent money, for a long time by working long, long hours

i can get a huge lump sum right now, with what i now know, by suing the pants off of that fortune 500 food company...and i didn't even have to spill hot coffee on myself

...he he...and if i win, i can easily buy macs for everyone on this thread

...hmm :)

I managed a McD's for several years in a previous life (apparently I had a lot of karma to work off) and we were legally allowed to hire 14 and 15 year olds, but the work restrictions that we had to abide by for them were so crazy that it wasn't usually worth it.

don't have the subject hired anywhere near food :)

This sucks. Even when it does open I don't know if I'll even go in. I'll be like 'that guy' that didn't get the job.
le sigh

update.

Hi Bob Sagget,
I would not make any assumptions at this point, as no one has been contacted from the interviews last week. I believe they will be in touch either today or tomorrow.
Thanks for your patience.
Have a great day

so there is hope
