I must admit I'm not missing anything EXCEPT the backlit keys. Basically just drooling over it. I didn't expect it to show up on this refresh.

...anyhow, I've been a touch typist for more than 10 years so I'm fine with no backlit keys. The display provide enough light for me to find some keys occasionally.:D

I can't wait. Thanks a lot!

I am considering to exchange my 2010 MBP 15" with SSD for this one. Thoughts, anyone?

Wow, just stick with the "ultimate" that you got there. I'm thinking whether or not I should just order the i5 or i7 13" MBA with 256GB SSD...

I just cant wait to see the difference between the i5 and i7 on the 13". Of course people may say that the i7 is faster, but does it drain the battery life by significantly more?

As for graphics, I play CSS casually, and with reports saying that it is as good as the old nvidia if not a bit better (despite the speculation of it being completely ****) then im fine with that.

Looking forward to the videos!

Although I dont own the 2010 mbp 15", i was 99% sure I was going to buy it. (thats when I thought macbook airs would be rubbish and similar to netbooks). Now however, im going for the 13" MBA because it has as much power as I need, and I just prefer it overall.

You lucky bastard! They didn't have any new Airs in Pittsburgh. I need to sleep hopefully when I wake up they have an i7 one somewhere...

Just like the i5 benchmarks from laptopmag. You sure that's not just a mislabelled box :)

If you have a minute could you comment on the fan noise
when just browsing and doing basic tasks. Is it silent?

How often does the fan ramp to louder levels?

Screenshot, yeah its 32bit...
No fan noise and have been on it for a while, no complaints it feels much more responsive then my MBP i5... haha

Thanks a lot for that!

Apparently your machine kicks the **** out of my 2010 15" (8GB RAM + SSD) MBP :( here are my screenshot if anyone might be interested: http://cl.ly/2O1n2t1W36333k0F1G2J

I think I am gonna order a brand new 13" i7 MBA tomorrow.

I don't know what the argument is. The i5/i7's have a much better feel.

It's like the difference between a rotator and a SSD: you just have see for yourself.

The main difference is most people won't pay for Geekbench so are only running it in 32bit mode. I'd be interested to see 32bit scores for all the new MBAs so people could compare better to their own machine, rather than a higher 64bit score.

No worries, apologies all for being such a novice... ha

Hey dude, could you check what type of SSD you have please? You can find this by:

About this Mac > More info > Serial ATA > Click on the SSD

If you could post a screenie of that, it would be much appreciated :)

No, I just didn't realize that there wasn't all that much upgraded with the new models. Only three things, really.

...and the 1333MHz RAM if you add that too.

But, I am sure the new i7 model MBA could probably render a video project in about half the time as the previous fastest 2.13GHz Core2Duo model. The i7 Sandy Bridge is a much, much faster chip, I will agree to that, you are talking 3250 vs 6500 in Geekbench (twice the numbers here).

Yes, I am jealous, you are right. I want that light-up keyboard!!!

"only 3 differences". What did you expect? Upgraded ram, cpu, gpu, ssd, resolution, keyboard, subwoofer and thinner design?
The mba got a great upgrade and it is now a fine pc for everyone. The only problrm is the price (unless you're ok with 11" screens... Im still thinking about it)
