Doesn't it seem a little counter-intuitive to install Monolingual in order to free disk space? You can get rid of all those language packs yourself when doing a clean install of OS X, and you don't need Monolingual or any other program to do it.

This is actually incorrect. Monolingual goes inside of each, individual Application and deletes the extra languages. These languages are installed regardless of your settings when you install OS X. Run Monolingual, you'll be surprised.
