When is light bleed an issue (watching dark movies in a dark room or what)? Why is light bleed so bad?

Not at all at daylight or colour displays but when watching movie with black letter box, the light bleedings are distracted the eyes with white lights from both side of the letter box.

I'm now happy with my iPad4, because the more I exchange it the more I figure out that the display is more terrible.
