I checked for any dead pixels or backlight bleeding, and couldn't find any. Awesome screen. I do have that screen distortion when I press on the back like everyone else does.

Is there anything else I should check for before I apply the screen protector?

Place your iPad in portrait and check for yellowing of the screen (typically on the left of the screen)

If you're not seeing any problems after reading the forums and looking for them , I'd say you're good to go. Just enjoy your new iPad!
