Just got my MacBook Pro!

first mac since the IIsi , 2MHz of awesomeness.

Colin20, I just got the same build MBP a week or so ago. I LOVE IT. The 7200RPM drive is a little louder (and I can feel it more) than I had expected, but it also seems a lot quicker, so I'm pretty stoked.

That's cool. From prior 15" MBPs (all with 5400s), I'm used to not being able to hear/feel the drive at all. It's not like my 7200 is what I'd consider noisy or rough, ... it's just weird for me to be able to hear it or feel it at all.

Somebody said they would 'wait for the back to school promotions' ??

Does Apple actually do tried and true, annual back to school sales? And if they do, would this stack with or be better than the $200 student discount already offered at the Apple Store?

Lastly, is the Apple Store the BEST place to buy a MBP or is there another avenue that's just as great?

The Back to School promo (in the US) for the last several years hasn't been a "sale". You buy a Mac at the normal price (minus the normal educational discount) and you get a free iPod. Last year it was the iPod touch.

After some delays in shipping I finally received my MacBook Pro and so far it is absolutely awesome! This is my first Mac so I have some stuff to learn and surely more questions to ask but I'm so happy with it so far.

Congrats, I have had my 17" umbp for a week now and I'm loving it. I am still trying to figure out why I stayed with pc for so long.

I too have the MacBook Pro 15" 2.66...

I believe it's better then the 17 inches in performance.

I'm really happy with mine as well. I got a deal on the 2.4 model through Craigslist ($1400) and I'm glad I rolled the dice on it.

It's such a solid machine.

My 4GB Crucial RAM kit should be here today as well.
