So I picked one up today at BestBuy in northwest Indiana.

Guess the guy said they got them this afternoon and they didn't even know they had them nor did they know what they were or if they should be selling them

Nice little machine!

Just opened her up and played with it for a bit. The keyboard is definitely different with lesser key push. Can't tell a big difference in the tactile feedback in the mousepad...will have to play with it more.

They had 3 in stock and just got them that afternoon. Gold was on display but only had 3 silver base models for sale.

There's an open box 1.2/512 space grey at the Best Buy two towns over from me.

That's still a base model, though. Just a different configuration. Non-base models would be a custom config such as the 1.3 processor.

well most think base as the "basic" model or lowest level, which is what base is by definition. They only sell the standard/stock configs, which in the rMB case is 1.1/256 and 1.2/512

Best Buy will never stock BTO (build to order) models such as the 1.3 processor upgrade. Other than ordering directly from Apple, you'll probably only find these sold second-hand or occasionally as refurbished models.
