I just purchased my 13inch MBP base model
I turned it on and I don't see any Disk image on my desktop...
I relaunched the Finder, but still the desktop is empty.

Is there something wrong with my MBP?

Click the Finder menu at the top, then click Preferences. Put a check next to "Hard disks" under the "Show these items on the desktop".

not at all, noticed the same thing. All you have to do is go into Finder, preferences, "show these items on desktop" (check hard disks)

For anyone who's interested, Snow Leopard changed the default setting related to showing the hard drive on the desktop.

Actually I find I use the desktop icons less and less myself. Spotlight FTW!
