Just got my shipment from Best Buy!!! UPS Ground was soon slow but definitely worth the wait. I am upgrading from a 2009 Macbook Pro so I can't really compare how it performs but it is snappy!! The Retina display is gorgeous. The keyboard will take some getting used to but it is accurate so far. The backlighting is much better than the old one. The Trackpad is magic!! And the weight difference is definitely noticeable even when compared to the Air. I'm glad I made the jump.

Attached some pics and one with side by side by side with my brother's 2014 Macbook Air and my 2009 Macbook Pro and another side profile with the Air.

Damn so sexy!!! Makes all the other MacBook look so old and dated in comparison! Can't wait to get mine also.

I can't get over people calling the macbook sexy. I love the new MB design as much as the next guy, but calling it sexy makes me wonder if/whether you people are doing it right.

I'm guessing that people writing in this forum have less children than people of equal age and socioeconomic status.

i don't think they mean that they are sexually aroused by it.

Hey man, you never know.... different strokes for different folks.

I guess I just object to using the term sexy for a computer. I don't even like when it's used for a car, though at least for a car, you can comment on it's curves which may be "sexy" to some people.

I don't know about you, or what type of girl/guy you find attractive, but as for me, I don't find thin, sharp, flat with limited inputs to be sexy.

Sexy has been used for years in the tech industry, car industry, etc. It is very appropriate

sexy |ˈseksē|
adjective (sexier, sexiest)
sexually attractive or exciting: sexy French underwear.
• sexually aroused: neither of them was feeling sexy.
• informal exciting; appealing: I've climbed most of the really sexy west coast mountains.

Alright Alright... I stand corrected.. I guess it's just my own aversion to using that word for things that aren't actually..... sexy.

People in my field talk about how they organize their journal articles to make it more "sexy" for the reviewers. I don't like the term used in this context either.

You got the gold! When did you order, and at the time of ordering what was the estimated shipping date?

I hesitated on buying so reserved it the day after trying it in the Apple Store so 4/11 morning, my estimated shipping was 4/26-5/8 so it came 5 days early!! Glad I ordered Best Buy instead of Apple

Aww darn I don't think I would be so lucky if I buy it now.

Awesome man! Congrats on getting gold. If I was going to get one, it'd be gold.

Also, nice pics :)

Congratulations man!! :D

I got mine last Friday from Best Buy as well (express shipping). Very exciting stuff! I've been comparing it with my first Mac ever, my white plastic MacBook from 2006, and I honestly can't even believe I ever used that computer. I also got the gold, to match my iPhone and iPad. Indeed, it is sexy, it's a computer that demands attention and is certainly a conversation starter in public.

Long live :apple:

it'd be nice to see comparison photos.

Kudos to Apple for offering us options. Always pushing for the thinness and sleekness. I was sure they went too far with one port. At first I was skeptical but then really thought about what I used my MacBook Pro for especially since it was my only computer. I stream Netflix, use pages, IPhoto editing, and patient charts via hospital EMR and that's it. I do bring my laptop to work and in and out of patient rooms so the portability makes a difference for me. Perfect mix of productivity and style for me

As far as color I'm so happy I went against my brain and got gold. As a dude I'm always thinking man really gold? And like to blend in with my darker Mac products. But it really is classy and stand out and am considering going gold for my next iPhone and iPad (though I wish they went black/gold like this MacBook vs white/gold).

Hopefully you guys enjoy yours as much as I am mine

In person, in your hands, it's actually much more convincing. I have owned quite a few MacBook variants, including e two 11" MBAs. Subjectively, the thinness, lightness and feeling of quality build are very notable.

That was my first thought when I saw the thing in person and started using it. The overall feel of it is just very impressive.

It is definitely a beautiful computer and I can't wait to get my Space Gray tomorrow.

I know I'll love it but spending $1300 for the base model on something so small/thin and purely a Want for me is tough to swallow. But I did it anyway.

It's amazing how small/thin/light this thing is. In person I was shocked by the simplicity of it, even though it's not simple at all.
