When you have booted up the computer from the OSX disc, and get beyond the license information. You'll be able to select the tools menu at the top from there select disk utility.

Highlight the disk drive in the left hand pain and select partition from the top center screen. From there you should be able to figure out where/how to reformat (I'm doing this on memory). Here's a link that I found instructing you how to do this by googling. linky

how do i format and partition?

Once you are booted into the install disk and you have the menu bar visible at the top of the screen, choose Utilities > Disk Utility.

Then, select your SSD from the left hand list of drives (if there is more than one item in that list).

Select the 'Partition' tab in the right hand pane of the Disk Utility window.

Choose '1 Partition' from the 'Volume Scheme' pop-up menu.

Give your new Volume a name (I've chosen 'Macintosh SSD') and make sure the format is set to 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.

Click 'Options' at the bottom of the partition list.

Choose 'GUID Partition Table' as the partition scheme you wish to use.

Finally, click apply. After this, you can close Disk Utility and continue with the installation of OS X.
