Just got new MBP, how to sync?

I just my new MBP, and obviously i will eventually want to sync my iPhone with this new computer. I do not want to do migration assistant because I want a fresh start. How do I get my new MBP to even recognize my iPhone and iPad? I tried plugging it in, but as soon as i disconnect it, its gone from iTunes. Thanks!

Are you trying to wirelessly sync it? You need to have the wifi sync option checked in preferences when you plug it in for the first time.

Its supposed to disappear from iTunes when u disconnect it. If u are referring to iCloud then u have to (as someone stated) enable wireless syncing.

Wha? It's supposed to disconnect when you unplug it. Can you be more specific?
